I do not think this issue to be limited to this model since I saw other routers in D-Link family using the same software back-bone
and if truly this issue has not been discovered so far, all models & revisions using this back-bone are affected

it's quite easy to observe that the 20 page log, once filled, will not refresh

there is the other possibility that the behavior was discovered in the more expensive models and corrected, but ignored in the cheaper ones

---

also, I don't understand this "entry level" thing .. 2nd class citizens!??! the routers, no mater on what price-range are they placed, the should receive the exact same amount of care from the software engineers

when this type of router is sold to perhaps more than 6:1 ratios to a more expensive one, and does not receive the same care, how would I look at the rest of the D-Link line up with different eyes?! I cannot
the shop where I bought the 605L from, had maybe hundreds of these units in stock but none of the more expensive ones

that right there is a grave reason to doubt your company

I agree all models should receive same quality and testing and I presume they do for the most part. Entry level routers have to do with features mostly. Higher end class routers have more features. Entry level are just the basics.

It's up to the users to review and find a router what works for them. If your regional supplier or shop doesn't keep more higher end routers in stock then users have to broaden there search range in there region.

D-Link handles each region a bit differently in regards to support and development due to government policies and business practices.  So there maybe some differences seen between each region, thus maybe this issue is localized to your region for this particular model router as you seem to be the only one experiencing it.

I wold work with M, send him a PM and see if maybe you can exchange this model router for a different model router, Maybe a DIR-636 or a 655 if available in your region. Worth asking.

both models are available in my region
both would be a choice, but I need the absolute warranty that those models will not exhibit the same behavior

I will ask M

I moved the 605L in the living room, disabled HDCP and firewall - basically turned the router into a wireless AP with a switch
looking at the log, here's what I observed over a week+

the log page only displays 20 pages, but logs quite a lot more
after few days, maybe a week, I observed that the log pushes (refreshes the log entries) one day at the time

my guess is that, with firewall enabled, the log fills whole a lot faster than the size/period reserved over the 20 displayed pages

need some time to re-do all this and will return with some screenshots to detail what I said

Ya, I presume with the firewall enabled, lots more information being sent to the logs.

You'll need to phone contact D-Link for your region and ask.
