Major wifi problem , I need help.
« on: March 06, 2013, 07:30:18 PM »

I am at the point to throw the DIR-657 to the garbage! I have an old linksys from garage sale for $2, never had a problem! I bought this new router 2 days ago and I have to reset 7-9 times a day! I just loosing the wifi! It said no connection, or something like that. It is a setting example if no data transfer for a while it stops working? Or what is going on?

My second question is about that sd card Multimedia crap. Is it any way to make it work with my Roku?
Somebody can explain what is the point to share my movies or photos from the sd card via network, to see on my laptop, when I can plug the sd card directly to the laptop???
It would make sense if I see the files via network through the PS3, or Roku on the TV.

The most important if is any settings to fix my first problem, or it will fly to the garbage :)

To answering to myself....
I should read first what others wrote earlier, sorry about it. I was so frustrated..
So , I just updated to 1.01 , and changed the settings to "TKIP only" and "mixed mode n,g",
because I have a samsung s3, and Note 2 phones, and somebody mentioned maybe that will be the solution, so will wait till tomorrow, and will see.

This maybe a configuration problem. Let's not jump to any conclusions here.

Back to the 2nd question I mentioned , so what about ROKU? OR PS3 with PLEX? Is it a way to watch movies from the sd card?

Glad you got it working.

You have to enable Media Server and I think that should get you going. You'll need to have your devices look for the name that you assign or use the default media server name to look for on the network.

Check to see if uPnP and Multicast Streaming is enabled under Advanced/Adv Networking.
