Can't log in to Configuration Utility
« on: June 15, 2021, 03:03:33 PM »

When using wireless connection to DIR‑636L , the connection has not been so good compared to when I connect directly by cable, and there is oftenly intereference which causes very low connection speed.

So I wanted to go into the configuration settings to see if I could change the channels and such things.

If I go to the web based configuration utility at http://192.168.0.1, I am redirected to wizard_router.asp , to the installation guide.
But I can't log in to the dlink account, nor create a new account, it says  "Send signup request failed.".

Could a firmware update fix this issue? For me the current firmware is 1.01, but I see that there are firmware up to 1.06 available (for north american users, I am from Sweden though).

Or should I should trash it and get a new one?
It does work, but I think I should be able to get good connection without interference..

What happens if you reset the router and walk thru the setup wizard and complete it?
I'd use IE11 or FireFox browser to walk thru the setup wizard.

Hi!

I'm using my laptop now actually, because my main computer has died, so I haven't gone through the wizard before on this computer.

I tried IE11 as you suggest, but it's the same message " Send signup request failed.".

I can log in with those credentials on mydlink.com by the way.

When you say  resetting the router, do you mean restart it? I have restared it, is there some other reset procedure I could try?

No, reset means press the reset button for 10 seconds then release. Button on the 636L is under the router I believe.

Okay, thanks!
I reset it, and went through the steps again, but it fails again at the registration or login step.
Could I try one of the firmware updates maybe?

When  tried plugging in the internet cable directly into the computer, the speed went up a lot. It has been super slow, even using a cable from the router.
So I don't know if it's been hijacked or if it's just outdated in some way. Sometimes the speed is okay, then it drops. Maybe some hijacking is going on, but it seems strange.

Maybe I have to buy a new one?

What browser are you using? IE11 or Firefox should work.
Try a FW update as well...v1.08 is last version which yours is way behind on.

Does the router work other than the mydlink services? I believe the mydlink service for routers has been discontinued.
