Device is not/incorrectly displaying video lengths on PS3

The title pretty much says it all.

Nearly all my media on the DNS server doesn't report a play-length on the PS3.  If I move the file to my PC and run the server off the PC, I see the lengths.  For the DNS-320 it just shows a dash, "-".

Although, once for a 2 hour movie, it displayed a completely absurd 19 hours and some minutes.

Why is it not reporting the times or reporting them incorrectly?
