HP Touchpad and DAP-2553
« on: December 27, 2011, 09:43:24 AM »

Happy Holidays! I have a DAP-2553 with the latest firmware (1.21). I have been trying to get my firesale HP Touchpad to work with this AP 100%. The error is that the Touchpad says there is no connection to the Internet, even though I can use the Touchpad's web browser to access any Internet site. I just cannot download any apps, use the Amazon Kindle app, or any other app requiring Internet access.

I have SSID hidden, WPA2 security using AES, and MAC ACL filtering setup on the DAP-2553. If I have the AP wide open, the Touchpad does the same thing so I do not believe it is the security setting causing the conflicts.

Has anyone was able to get his/her HP Touchpad to work with any DLink wireless AP or router? HP is telling me that they have had lots of calls of problems with DLink wireless, but they would not offer any suggestions besides trying another brand of AP. A search on the Internet reveals that DLink is not the only product with "issues" supporting the Touchpad.

Note that the Touchpad works fine on public WiFi access. Everything works.

Have you tried setting the SSID to unhidden first and try using no security to test the pad out to see if it will connect to the DAP, then go back and set up wireless security?

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES.

I have SSID hidden, WPA-Personal with WPA2 only security using AES, and MAC ACL filtering setup on the DAP-2553. If I have the AP wide open, the Touchpad does the same thing so I do not believe it is the security setting causing the conflicts.

The wireless mode is strictly b & g (no N), since I read on other posts that the N may cause a problem. There is no single mode available in the DAP-2553 that I can find.

What security type does the touchpad support? Some devices don't support AES. Does the touch pad connect if the SSID is unhidden and security turned off. I it doesn't then I might presume that the touch pad is faulty. One way to test this out is to try connecting the touch pad to a different wifi source.

Problem solved! The problem was that I had another AP nearby causing interference. I have a DWL-7100AP that is still running next to it, and despite the different channels being used (plus different security settings), the TouchPad appeared to have been very confused if I use it where both APs are located. However, when I take the TouchPad to the living room (first floor, and the APs are in the second floor), it works fine even with both APs running.

I will be decommissioning the DWL-7100AP and the DAP-2553 will be the only AP running. So this should become a non-issue in my "computer room" since only one AP will be running.

Thanks to all who replied to my post.
