Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual?
yes
Turn off QoS options.
Done
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Don't See it
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Done
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
DONE
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.

Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.
Not sure how.

What wireless modes are you using? Mixed 802.11n,g,b
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? WEP, WPA or WPA2? Preferred is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES. WPA-Personal
What wireless devices do you have connected? Daily ipad, Android Phone (Motorolla Atrix). Occaisonally HP Printer, laptop.
Any cordless house phones? yes
Any other WiFi routers in the area? lots.

So far, turning off QoS and reserving DHCP IP addresses seems to be working. We'll see if this continues.
If it doesn't I will try other modes.

What am I losing by turning off QoS?

Any cordless house phones? yes   What freqency are these cordless phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? lots. This can impact and interfere with the ability of your router and devices to connect wirelessly.

What am I losing by turning off QoS? Nothing, it's meant for use when you have 2 or more devices on line and either streaming or gaming and ensures each devices get enough bandwidth while each devices is online and demanding traffic. This helps to manage that. Not needed for devices that don't hog bandwidth, like phones and such. PCs that are streaming video or gaming and game consoles like Xbos and PS, this is preferred and used best.

I would use InSSIDer application to see who's around you, what channels and modes they are using. Might have to set manual channel to something thats available if there is any. I would test the router at single mode G at 2.4Ghz and see if all of your devices can connect. Again, this might pose a problem with other routers near by and channels. Need to make sure your devices also support N mode, if they don't then theres no need to use N mode.

The phones are 5.9 GHz.
In the time, I've had these phones, I've probably been through 3 or 4 different routers. So I find the interference idea, doubtful.

Did I mention the Roku and DVD players I have hooked up to the router, QoS is the feature I bought this version of the router for.

Changing the mode to 2 mixed didn't work again this morning. In addition a laptop I was working on yesterday couldn't connect. I'll try single mode today. But unless there are some other ideas on what to fix. Its time for this router to go.

Ok, the cordless phones should have any impact. You said that you've been thru several routers? Makes we wonder if your area is congested with other WiFi routers and this one is exhibiting the same issues as the other.

I live in an apartment building in a big city, so there are plenty of other wi-fi's around. The other router was crashing (going off on its own, must reboot). This one is up, the hard wired connections are still working, it's just the wireless connections which no longer work.

Ya, wired is working however wireless isn't. And you live in a apartment complex with other WiFi routers around...Need to find a channel thats not being used if possible. Use single mode G however this is more common then N is so you might not find any open channels on G mode. One thing you can try is to lower the Power outout of the radio on the wireless and see if the helps with keeping a signal footprint with in your apt only. Need to use InSSIDr applicaton and see who's around you and what channels maybe open.

Tried Single Mode, G.

And everything is up this morning. If this breaks I'll give the InSSIDr a try.

Let us know. Just think that your near by area is flooded and congested with other wireless routers and radio signals and everyone is probably having or seeing the same issues possibly and everyone is having some sort if interference impact on operation.

I had considered picking up one of these to try to resolve this same issue with my  DIR-855.  Thanks for posting this thread!  You just saved me from wasting some money.  [=

Have you resolved your issue with the 855? This issue here seems to deal with other WiFi in the near by vicinity and not router HW related.

Login into router by type 192.168.0.1 Username:Admin Password:(blank)

Goto Setup-->Wireless Settings --> Manual wireless setup ---> Wireless Network settings

Uncheck Enable Auto Channel Scan

then change wireless channel to 11 or CH 11

and remove power plug of router and replug it back

This should solve your issues and if possible use Cipher type as TKIP for maximum compatibility

Tried that long before posting in here.  I've tried every single channel individually.  My 2.4GHz is set to WEP because I need to connect my DS Lite and 3DS to it on occasion.

now contact dlink tech support and explain them your issue they will mostly try .........
resetting your router with new firmware if available or simple reset and reconfigure....
if still it does not solve your problem your router is defective and you get new router as replacement if your router is under warranty
