DWA 652 freezing
« on: July 30, 2007, 12:30:23 PM »

Is anyone else have freezing problems with the dwa 652?  It's not a lockup but the touchpad and keyboard stop working intermittently when I have the dwa 652 pc card in and then a few seconds later it starts working again.  I've disabled my laptops old internal wireless card and my laptop has up to date drivers for everything.  It's a Dell Inspiron 600m.

Any help would be appreciated.

Run the built in Network monitor to see if it is tied to utilization.

I am also having a freezing problem.  Approximately every 30-60 seconds, mouse/keyboard lockup for ~2 seconds.  It is extremely annoying to say the least.  If I take out the wireless cards and run using ethernet I don't have any lockups.

I did upgrade the driver to the current version, it says it is dated 6/5/07 in the device manager, and version is 6.0.3.85

I was wondering if the CPU utilization went high as the card seemed to freeze.

Depending on the OS, the Monitoring tool is in the same app as the "task manager".

to access the taskmanager, press the following buttons on your keyboard at the same time; CTRL-ALT-DEL.
What version of the driver are you using currently?

I get the same thing.. I've been trying to update the drivers for days now.. I've registered probably 6 times and it keeps on popping up the reg screen but yet the fta address doesn't do anything..

I tried the email support and nobody replied..

I preferred the simple setups of yester year.. where you went to a website and clicked on a driver link and it downloaded.. instad of all these scripted pages that only produce errors..

When you are an unhappy consumer as it is it doesn't help in the customer satisfaction area..

Where can I get the driver easily without any more head aches..?

Can someone email it to me?

Cheers

The link starts a download of the the driver in a zip file for me.  Sounds like you have something blocking FTP traffic, check your firewall settings.  File is 18 Megs.

Here is link to the drivers page:

Well Dave I have 3 computers all wired different ways.. some hard wired.. that all say the same thing Firewall off.. everything off...

A clickable link... wouldd work wonders.. instead of this cake system..

I can download ******* music if I chose to because it is accessible but to download a driver for a card that works when it it wants to is near impossible..

Real simple I am going to waste my time on the phone... if they don't help me I will return $350 worth of equipment..

I have had 5 different networks and I've never had this much difficulty before.. even to get free software..

Thanx Dave for your time..

but if I have 3 systems all different brands that don't get it.. and I tried a few different methods then the issue ain't on my end..

A 13 yr old should be able to stroll into a shop buy a product and have it work for him

Cheers
