Works very well as a Bridge to another DAP-1522.

I use mine as a AP/Switch in my room. Great coverage for my iPhone and a 4 port switch for my camera, xbox and PC.

Solid device, minimal heat. Only thing is the lights are a tad to bright.

...and the blinking amber light drives me nuts!  Every time I walk by the unit and
see the blinking amber light and think it is trying to alert me that something is wrong.

[using in bridge mode to a DIR-655, works great for my ReplayTV]

I like the fact that their different colors, but I agree. Green would have been a better choice.

Yes, green is even better.  Solid on connect, blinking if not connected.
Surely, the solid / blinking behavior can be changed with a firmware update?

I have a DAP-1522 bridging with a DIR-655 router.  The throughput as reported by the DIR-655 varies from 26-54 mbps with 70-90% signal. I can improve these numbers to some degree by re-positioning the DAP-1522  How else can I increase the throughput rate ?  I have the router set for 11 g and n, WPA2 security.  I noticed that a number of the wireless setting fields are greyed out (unselectable) on the DAP-1522 bridge, so my adjustment capability looks limited. Would changing the router to "802.11n only"  help increase the throughput?  I'm open for ideas.

Hi - I've got two DAP-1522 bridges working with an old DI-624. So far so good, haven't measured throughput but I'm able to stream SD video from one bridge to the other through the router without a hitch, just like with my old DWL-G810s. Somewhat impressive since I had had to upgrade the antennas on the old bridges but the 1522 internal antennas seem to work well. I agree with the posts above, though; those LEDs are way too bright and the blinking amber is migraine-inducing. I've covered them with electrical tape.

Getting WPA2/AES security and four ports instead of one is a big improvement already but what I really want is to separate g and n for better speed on the n network. If the DIR-855 hits the stores in the next few weeks I'll replace my router with one - otherwise I'll probably go with the Linksys WRT600N. Would prefer to stay single-brand, though.

I'd like to elaborate on the particulars of my set-up.

First of all, I'm not using the DAP-1522 for interactive gaming; it is to be used purely as a bridge to my DIR-655 router in order to hook up three large desktops by wire into the DAP-1522, for home business purposes. I will be doing some interactive demos in web conferences, but I also want to upload and download bulk data by file transfers.  Through my cable ISP I can download at 10 Mbps. If I use wireless directly into the DIR-655 I can achieve ~9+ Mbps which is goodness. However, if I go through the DAP-1522 with a speed test, I'm, lucky to get 3Mbps, usually more like 1-2Mbps.

Now I am using both the DAP-1522 and DIR-655 with default settings, which means the WISH function and the QOS functions in the DIR-655 are on at their default values.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to get higher throughput thru the DAP-1522, while simultaneously using a direct wireless connection into the router at some other part of the house.

Most of my tweaking, (adjustment of WISH and QOS) has degraded the systems and then I've had to resort to system resets for both units.

This doesn't work badly; I just need to improve the downloads through the DAP-1522 to reduce wait times, rather than acquire separate wireless adapters for the three desktops sitting side by side  (these are 64 bit machines used for number crunching.)

This is the scope of my situation. Any help or redirection is appreciated.

I'm using WPA2 only with AES. Wireless n only.

Lycan,
Do you think I need to tweak either the DIR-655 QoS or WISH settings to increase my download speed  though the DAP-1522 ?  I know I'm probably trying to reverse the designed function of the DIR-655/DAP-1522, but if I would like to create an exception for one or two computers attached to the DAP-1522 for bulk file transfers.

Please let me know what you find out. I also have a DIR-655 and the DAP-1522, connecting a PC via ethernet to the DAP slows down my network access on the PC (compared to wireless N)
