OS X and DHCP - unable to obtain IP
« on: November 22, 2010, 05:45:20 AM »

Hey everyone, so here's my situation:

I have a DIR-600 with 5 computers, all connected wirelessly. 2 are Windows 7, the other 3 use OS X (10.4 and 10.6). The router is setup to use DHCP, and I have setup DHCP reservations for each computer. The Windows machines work fine, however the macbooks have trouble obtaining an IP address. More often than not, they will keep getting 169s, or they'll obtain the reserved IP address, hold it for a few seconds, and then revert back to the 169 IP. I thought it was just an issue with one macbook, but it's consistently happening for all 3 of them. I can assign the IP statically, and this will work intermittently as well, I'll need to switch it back and forth between DHCP and manually before it will work.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
