Window 7 transcodes video
« on: March 23, 2010, 08:36:10 AM »

Hello all, I have been all over these forums and have managed to fix some of my problems. Anyways here is my issue.

First off, my system is wired, running a 100MB connection, windows 7 64 bit, I have media browser plug-in installed and sharks codex pack with 64 bit extensions. I use twonky media server when in media lounge.

If I play a video in extender mode the video is transcoded and  looses some quality and audio is downgraded to 2 channel. I also loose the control of the video, like fast forward and rewind, things like that. Now the same video in media lounge served by twonky media server plays  perfectly. I have full quality video, full 5.1 sound, I also have complete control with the video, fast forward, rewind ect.

Here are 2 example videos that do what is stated above.

Truthfully any video I play in extender mode seems to be transcoded. I only have one file that does not have this problem as I converted the file to a dvr-ms file. It works perfectly in extender mode, video, audio and all controls. I guess that O can just watch my videos in media lounge but I really like the extender mode that’s, really why I have this product.
A second problem I have is that some files will not play at all and I do not know why.
These 2 files will not play in extender mode or media lounge as they lock up and have no sound before they lock-up.

I have noticed that live tv seems to be very grainy and wonderd if this is an issue with the codecs the 750 is using in media center mode?
