Title: DGS-3120-48TC and 3rd part SFP transceiver compatibility
Post by: pmsr on November 09, 2020, 02:56:08 AM
Hello, happy owner of six of these DGS-3120-48TC units in stack mode. Wondering if anyone knows if they accept third party SFP modules, or are we locked to the D-Link transceivers. Thanks!

Something to ask D-Link support about. Or see if there is any mention of 3rd party SFP support in the user manual or support site.

The manual only mentions supported SFP transceivers, with a full list of them. The recommended with the functionality I need is the DEM-311GT, of which there are clones which we can assume it'll work. But you can also find Cisco SFPs with the same specs for next to nothing, hence the question.

If you can find one for next to nothing, it might be a good time to try one out and see. Find one from a seller with a good return policy.

You need two and fiber connection installed in place to test. And time is money, even with a good return policy.
