506L Bugs
« on: March 09, 2013, 06:47:19 AM »

I've been able to get the 506L to work, but I keep running into bugs.  Is there a bug list for the 506L?  Here's what I found so far:

1. when you go into Network settings, and change the IP address, the router will reset as expected.  But after it has booted, the IP address had not changed.  Oops!!

2. If after doing #1, after you reconnect wirelessly, then try to log into the router, if you have not waited enough time, the router will act as if it just got a download, and reset.  It will do this every time, unless you give it enough time.  For me, 5 min or so seems to work.  Actually I think this happens anytime you make a settings change, and the unit reboots, and you have not given it enough time.

Is there another firmware version in the works?  When will it be available?

D-Link doesn't tell us these things. There has been only one update for the 506L and it didn't fix any of the bugs I had previously reported.

What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8 or 9, set compatibility mode and test again.

We are not privy to when DLink releases FW updates. I try to, monthly look at the web site to see what if any thing, has been posted recently. I even review other sites to see whats been posted and post information in the forums for each product. I see that v2.13 came out a month ago. So I presume it could be another 6 months or longer to see anything else. If your having problems or notice issues with your router, please phone contact DLink support and ask for level 2 or higher support and let them know about it.
