5029L keeps losing PTZ and web UI but streams fine
« on: May 20, 2016, 10:24:01 AM »

My 5029L keeps losing PTZ control, when that happens I am unable to access the web UI. I can still access the video stream which is still being updated, I can telnet to port 80 and 443 on its IP and it does accept the connection but drops it right away. This is on wireless, there is no IP conflict or network issue as the video streams still are accessible just fine. If I unplug the camera and plug it back in, all services are restored until the problem repeats again... Usually in a day. I did some searching online and noticed some people saying this is a known issue in firmware v1.11. I checked my version and I'm on 1.13. When I checked the website for the latest version, it shows v1.11 as the latest...

What happened to v1.13?
Anyone else know about this issue or how to correct it?

Update: It's now failing after about an hour, it doesn't even last a day after rebooting it.

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?
How many other wireless devices do you have connected to the main host router?
  • Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by that maybe causing interferences?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use a WiFi Scanner to find out. How many?

v1.13 is posted here:

You might try going back to v1.02 and see if the problem persists.

Interesting that the 1.13 firmware is only on that link you provided but not on the other site I was looking on.  I'm trying to downgrade now to 1.11 since I didn't have the issue then I don't believe.

I understand you asking those questions to rule out network connectivity and such, but I am a network / server engineer by trade and can guarantee you with 100% certainty this isn't a network or connectivity issue. The daemon on the camera which listens on port 80/443 is not responding to HTTP GET requests but is accepting connections. The daemon responsible for transmitting the video feed is working properly and transmitting video. This is absolutely an appliaciton layer issue.

It's funny... I opened a ticker with Support, they told me 1.11 is the latest version even though 1.13 does exist.

In any event, no the downgrade didn't work... It's dead again. Maybe I'll try an even older version.

I just wanted to update this thread in case anyone else experiences the same issue. I performed a reset via the web UI rather than the reset button and reconfigured the camera, it has been fine for a week now. I'm going to re-upgrade to 1.13 and see if the problem returns.
