  • What region are you located?
  • Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?
FW Update Process
  • Was the router working before any firmware updates?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

Is the 868L in router or Bridge mode?

Hardware version: A1
Firmware original: 1.04 -> updated to 1.07 when It came out of the box, before setting up. Did'nt put an factory reset on since I didn't change anything else jet.
Region: Western Europe: timezone GMT+1,00 hour.
Wlan-card PC: 'Intel Dual-Band Wireless AC-7260'
I never checked the time before I updated FW of the router.
868L is in Router mode!

Connected to an DSL-modem
But I have never find this problem with any other router or computer before, so I doubt that this will come from the modem.

At this moment I using an incorrect time zone the get the correct time in the router.

  • If the ISP modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems: Link>Double NAT and How NAT Works. To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged. If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ. Also check the routers DHCP IP address maybe conflicting with the ISP modems IP address of 192.168.0.1. Check to see if this is the same on the ISP modem, and if modem can't be bridged, change the DIR router to 192.168.1.1 or .0.254.
Example of a D-Link router configured for PPPoE with ISP Modem bridged: PPPoE Configuration on Router

We recommend following this for doing any FW updates:
FW Update Process

We also recommend testing the router out of the box before updating FW. These routers work well out of the box. FW updates are not always necessary.

I presume you acquired the FW file from your regional D-Link Site?

Of course I checked the router with it's out of the box settings first. Only on DD-wrt the time is always on screen and i'm never had an D-link router before. It could have been on an different time already; I didn't expect that the time could be a problem. So I updated first because I saw on this forum a few things were improved.
I aquired FW: http: IP -> tools -> firmware -> check now!..
It sad; new firmware is available or something like that. And I downloaded the link.

I can't change the modem. To bad. The modem is the property of the Internet company.
Can't do anything with it. Pretty much is officially blocked and the password is unknown.
The modem has only one function; an Internet connection, nothing more and nothing less.

We here in the forums always recommend updating FW when needed using the following process:
FW Update Process

What NTP server are you selecting. How far off is the time?

The time is 1 hour off.

The time is now set on: "GMT + 2.00", in stead of "GMT + 1.00".
It's not the prettiest solution but it works...

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

This problem is solved.
I did want to call them, but the only way to contact them was by e/mail...
Anyway it's solved.

The Factory reset wasn't the problem. I tried it, but it didn't fix anything.
The problem was that the we use summer and wintertime here. Wintertime is the normal time.
Just a fink won't help. You need to actually set the correct weekend. But be aware that if a month doesn't have 5 week's, than the 5th week is a dummy.
So it's very easy to set the time wrong and enabling daylight (=summertime setting) won't work!

So if anyone has this problem: Enable Daylight Saving! and fill in the date for summer and wintertime correct!

I'm sorry to say this:
But this is the first device that doesn't fill in summertime automatically when set to the correct timezone....

Edit. spell check...

Maybe you could use the spell check for this post. Kind of hard to understand the meaning.

Time is working for me and others. This could be a configuration issue.

This problem is solved.
I did want to call them, but the have just an e-mail address and no phone number for questions....

Time is working well.
But I need to add summertime (enable daylight saving +1 hour + d.d.) manually...

Looking back. There was never a problem with the time.
The only thing was that I didn't understand daylight saving.
In the help there's no extra info that you need to set summer time manually using daylight saving.

Maybe I was spoiled, because all my phones, computers, routers set summertime automatically...

You might contact D-Link support and ask them about this and see if there is more information on that.

I'm experiencing the same issue, NTP sync's and sets the wrong time on 1.07, I would prefer the option to set this instead so I can use 0.ntp.pool.org, 1.ntp.pool.org, 2.ntp.pool.org as a comma separated list instead.

D-Link has only given the two optional NTP servers on this router. No custom NTP servers are supported.
