Title: 2.4 GHz keeps dropping
Post by: Tellem on June 24, 2019, 11:02:53 AM
Hi all,

I've been having a problem with my DIR 890L for quite some time. Certain devices would consistently drop connections every day, while others would continue to work. It wasn't until I turned off SmartConnect that I realized it was the 2.4ghz devices that were dropping connections.

I have around 14-15 devices on the network.
2.4 ghz: smart bulbs, television, thermostat, etc.
5 ghz: computers, Xbox consoles, smart phones

I tried manually setting the channel for the 2.4 ghz network (channel 1, 6, and 11 I believe) but none of this fixed the problem.

There are no electronic devices within 6 feet of the router, other than the modem that is directly next to it.

Anybody experienced this? Any other steps I might be able to try?

What happens if you just use say 5 out of the 15 devices with the 890L, do they still disconnect?
What distance are these devices from the router?
Whats the SQ Feet size if your home?
