For hotmail as your smtp server try:

Recipient: <wherever you want it to go>
Mailserver: smtp.live.com
Port: 25
username: <your full hotmail address>
password: <your hotmail password>
sender: <your hotmail address>
use ssl/tls: <pick STARTTLS>

Also: Be aware if your camera sends too many emails, you may get blocked by the server.

1) Thanks for the hotmail setting. I tried with the new Port number and SSL setting. Unfortunately still no email!

2) The link provides gmail settings. OK I know just set-up a new account ....

BTW, I also tried PORT 587.

Any one here having success with email notification?

This cam is pretty useless in a security / alarm context!

I did test those settings with a Hotmail account.
If your ISP blocks port 25 of you'd have to try 587 which also worked when I tried.
Who knows, maybe hotmail is different  for you(I tried a live.ca account)

Do you have a working dns address set?
If I ping smtp.live.com, I get 65.55.96.11 as the address, I can put that in for smtp and press the test button and it goes, so even if my dns didn't work.... that would--- you could try that as a test.

Make sure you can ping your camera from your computer.
Check the status page and make sure you have gateway address and dns address.
Make sure you have current firmware.

It might be best to try something other than hotmail, if you have an account with your isp that would be better.

Thanks for your follow-up email.

Regarding the second paragraph, you got me lost already!

I shall see if I can get the settings for an otrher email provider. The moderator sent me the link to gmail which I may try this weekend.

Is there a way to chgeck whetehr the camera i sindeed sending an email? I can see that the video has been recorded ont he SD card, but I have no signs whetehr or not the camera tried to send an email. Then I would know whether it is the camera or the email!
Dlink customer service also suggested to try Port 465 with SSL-TLS. Not sure whetehr Hotmail sues SSL-TLS or STARRTTLS or both!

All I could find to date is that the camera does react to motion and that videos are recorded on the SD card. (I use mydlink website).

A lat point PIR is not checked but I do not think it affects email notification but only triggering mode.

As an earlier poster suggested, your best course of action to determine whether email is working properly is to test the email functionality with Gmail using the settings provided in my earlier link. From there, you can narrow the scope of your troubleshooting.

@Jawal:

Thanks for the tip. Believ eor not but now email to my hotmail account is working with Port 587 and SSL set to STARTTLS.
BUT .....  as an other poster mentioned on thsi forum my camera no sent email every 600 seconds (this is the interval I have set) until hotmail blocked the account!
My settings were motion and PIR selected; trigger on motion only; I did not select a specific area for motion detection.
Although there was no motion (during the night; me in bed; and no dog or ghost in the house) video clips were sent regularly.
- Shoud I disconnect PIR?
- Should I change sensitivity (set at 65%) (The camera is set in the entrance which is relatively dark as there is no windows)

This should be set-up as an alarnm and only send video when there is truly a motion (unapproved entrance).

Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

Well I am giving up

I was so happy when email transmission worked!

But now it is completely unreliable. I reduced sensitivity and disconnect PIR. During the entire day while at home it did not send any email (even when I walked in front of the cam). Then suddenly sicne 02:00 am it does not stop !!!

Thanks for your help and best of luck to other users.
