DIR-625 Revision C2 - all lights flashing
« on: April 07, 2013, 01:06:05 PM »

This router has been working without issue until yesterday when seemingly nothing happened to it but now all the lights just keep flashing in unison. I tried to unplug and to factory reset but neither did anything. When I press and hold the reset button the lights just keep flashing as indicated in the below video. Any ideas or is this thing just fried?

Link>Welcome!
What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?

Try unpluging ALL devices, including the ISP modem cable and doing a factory reset, the connect 1 wired PC to see if it does the same thing?

Check the output voltage on the power adapter. Make sure it matches what is listed on the label. Might be 12v 2A or what ever is listed on the lable, if the power output on the plug that goes into the router isn't good then possible problem with power adapter.

You can try this:
Emergency Recovery Mode
If this fails then you'll need to RMA the router back to DLink.

Let us know how it goes.

As I mentioned it is HW version C2. I don't know which firmware it was running prior to this but I believe it was 3.08. As for testing the power adapter, unfortunately I have no way of doing this. I attempted the emergency firmware reinstall however when I press the reset button nothing different happens. The lights just keep flashing as they do in my video. The computer says network cable unplugged which means it isn't getting any type of response from the router so I won't be able to load the page to reinstall the firmware right?

Do you have a electronic repair shop near by? If so you could take the power adapter to the repair shop and have them run a quick test on it.

If not, I think you need to replace this router with something new.

What are our network needs? Wireless? Gaming? Future needs?

Price point you might consider for a new router?
