Just wanted touch up on this.
Our network is still deteriorating in performance. Now we're down to only seeing two computers over the entire network (the 2 windows 10 computers).
Windows 7 computers Crystal-pc, Curtis-pc, Central-pc have always been directly hooked to the router NOT through a switch and still drop out of network view randomly with the other machines.
One workaround that I have been doing for the past month was to restart the central-pc computer on a daily basis. This resulted in EVERY computer on the network showing up perfectly under network view for the duration of the day. The next day I would reboot central-pc again and same result. I do not know why this is like this but it was working for a month consistently. towards the end of the May though, the network would loose views of the other computers and ultimately rebooting did not do anything.
We recently acquired some wireless printers which I added to the network wirelessly but they too also disappear from network view unless there is a power failure and the router is rebooted.
I think this router is bad. Just wondering if you've ever had similar experience?
Any chance you can get directly connected with the PCs to the router instead of the NG switches? Your network isn't working to best speeds with using 100mb switches since the router supports 1000Mb speeds. Your limiting your network performance.
A recommendation would be to get into some Gb supporting switches instead of using 100Mb switches.
If your using default DHCP IP address pool on the router 192.168.0.100 thru .199, set your PCs up outside of the pool like this:
192.168.0.2 thru .99. Set these IP addresses on each PC. Subnet mask will be 255.255.255.0 and gateway will be 192.168.0.1 and DNS can be 192.168.0.1 or actual ISP DNS addresses seen under Status/Wan section. Disable DNS Relay.
