i have this same problem with DIR-857 (also same problem with old DIR-655).  For some reason DLINK does not know how to correct this time problem on these routers.  No matter what settings or combination of settings is tried or attempted on the time page; the router will periodically show times that are 1 hour and up to 5 hours wrong.

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?

  • Set current Time Zone, Date and Time. Use an NTP Server feature. Tools/Time.

Do you use your DIR-857 as main Internet connection? Or did you configure it as second router to extend your existing network?

HW ver A1, f/w ver 1.04 central time zone US

I tried all the same things with this router as i did with the DIR-655 several years ago - copy computer time, use NTP server, save, re-boot, use NTP server only, do not copy computer time, save, re-boot, copy computer time, do not use NTP server save, re-boot, use different NTP server, save, re-boot etc...

Router time will eventually show as good after several tries, then will ALWAYS drift off by 1 to 5 hours over the next few weeks.

Are time-keeping algorithms all that difficult?  D-Link has had this problem for at least 4 years that i know of personally (in two different time zones, once with ComCast (cable), and now with AT&T (u-verse fiber))
