I have a couple of basic services (SSH, HTTPS) I'm using to synchronize a couple of machines, including my netbook. Port forwarding for these services works just fine when I'm connecting from the outside world, ie. not at home.
However, whenever I try to connect to these services via the external IP address from at home, the connection just times out. This is especially frustrating with my netbook, as I have to continually edit a hosts file to remap my dyndns address to a local IP when I'm at home, and then edit that back out again when I'm connecting from elsewhere. Now I have a new iPod Touch that I want to connect to local services, and the annoyance has doubled.
The services work fine if I connect via the internal IP, or if I use the external IP from outside of the LAN. So there's nothing wrong with the setup as far as I can tell.
Is there anything I can do to make this router smarten up? I'm pretty disappointed with it right now and about ready to write off D-Link routers in general.
