DIR-845L & Xavi 7968 as wifi repeater
« on: June 30, 2014, 01:30:57 AM »

Hi,

I would like to know how can i connect the xavi router to the dir-845l router in order to use the xavi as repeater.
I'm able to do it with a zyxel router and xavi as repeater, but I'm not able to connect the xavi to the dir.
I dont find where the dir accept transmit its wifi signal.

thanks for support

What wireless modes and frequencies does this repeater support? You'll need to refer to the repeaters Mfr support site for help and information on how to set that up.

Thanks,

the xavi is arouter-modem with Bridge and AP mode, the frequence is 2,4Hz. I'm able to see the dir-845L but doesn't connect is not a xavi problem is a dir  problem .

With th xavi and zyxel their are able to see themselves, you select from one you want to repeat and which one is the main (adsl). and viceversa I'm able to set xavi as main (adsl) and zyxel as repeater

Maybe the question has to be: "How can i connect de DIR-845L to another router through wifi??"

I'm able too, to connect the xavi to the dir using the cable and I'm able to expand and create a new wifi network, but I want to repeat the dir-845l signal in the up roms.

I hope explain my issue

This is not a DIR series problem, This router does not support bridging or repeating of another WiFi signal:Bridge Mode vs Relay vs Acess Point (AP) / Routers vs Dedicated Access Points (AP)

Sorry, I think that i dont explain clearly or I dont understand what you mean.

You mean that I'll not connect any repeater to my DIR-845L ?

My network is: DIR-845L conected to router/modem and this one to the ADSL. Normal  schema.

I want to use another router or a specific repeater in order to expand the DIR-845L wifi. You mean that it's not possible?

If your using the 845L as the main wireless AP then you should be able to connect this repeater to the 845L, If you were attempting to use this repeater as the wireless AP and try to wirelessly connect the 845L to this repeater, that would not work.

You'll need to refer to the Mfr of this repeater for support and information on how to use it.

Thanks,  yes, my idea is  using the 845L as the main wireless AP  and connect a repeater to the 845L . But I tried with 2 routers (xavi and zyxel) and one specific repeater (Cisco WAP200)

I'm able to repeat the xavi wifi using zyxel as repeater.
I'm able to repeat the zyxel wifi using the xavi as repeater.
I'm able to repeat the zyxel wifi using the cisco as repeater.
I'm able to repeat the zyxel wifi using the cisco as repeater.

But I'm not able to repeat the dir wifi , with this I'd like to clarify that I read the other user manuals. For this reason I'm thinking that the DIR-845L has something wrong or I have something wrong in my setup.

If you temporarily disable the WiFi security on the 845L and then try to connect the repeater, does it connect then by chance?

Possible that this is a compatibility issue between the 845L and this repeater as the WiFi on this particular model router has SmartBeam forming WiFi features which may have some incompatibility with repeaters that may not support SmartBeam features.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

Yes it connected with out security? If so then try WPA and Mixed TPIK and AES. Then try WPA2 and Mixed TPIK and AES.
