Its recommended to apply the FW updated, reboot, reset Factory settings. Do a quick speed test. Then apply your saved Configuration File.

After the upgrade, when it wiped the configuration did you reload a config file or did you manually reenter your settings? Try manually entering everything instead of using the configuration file (maybe its corrupt or has some bad settings)... take a screenshot of all your open ports, gaming settings, internet config before you do so.

What settings are you using for wireless, are you specifying a specific channel or allowing it to scan?

There's always the possibility that your environment is causing the errors?

The funny thing is that it didn't wipe any of my settings when i upgraded the firmware which thought was wierd. Long ago, I figured out that setting my channel to 7 allows me faster download and upload speeds in my particular area of the world so I do not allow it to scan. There is some distance between the houses on my street but there's definitly something in my area causing some friction with the wireless signals around here. For the most part, my wireless has been stable since setting it to CH 7.

Hello all.  New 4500 user here and severley disappointed.  I bought the router about 1.5 weeks ago from newegg and installed it upon receiving it.  I noticed that the performance was slow out of the box so I upgraded to the newest posted firmware on the site.  All was good, for about 3 days.  (Now I know I shouldn't have upgraded it).  But anyway, I came on here looking for help and found the beta firmwares and thought I had found hope in this new beauty of a router.  Was I wrong.  Just shy of 2.5 days uptime, the router decided to reboot itself yet again.  I followed all the rules on here posted by fellow members, and still have no luck whatsoever with this router.  I had my wireless set to G only (as I have no N devices), WEP protection due to my mothers old laptop card, had 1 gamerfuel rule in there for BF2, DNS Relay was off, Advanced DNS was off, and as was extended wireless protection (or whatever it was called).  So my question here is this.... if I return this router to newegg, and order the 4100 and use my current AP for my wireless needs, will I have all these troubles that the 4500 is plagued with?

The beta I was using was 1.22b02 just as a heads up.

What happens if you turn DNS relay back on? I have setup several other 4500s with this option ON. What HW version do you have? I presume A2? I have A1 and beta v1.22 has been up for 8 days now solid. Please check out the following link for some additional setup options.

I did the 1.22 2 days ago when I discovered I had a reboot after 40+ days on 1.21 08.

I'll hold my breath but it seems OK for now.

Speakeasy test to closest site:

Download Speed: 18901 kbps (2362.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 3962 kbps (495.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

WiFi G laptop on battery, 1 floor above router.  I am on a 16Mb cable modem...

A2 Hardware.  Moved from 1.16 up to this beta.  Things were going ok but noticed when I just logged on that I had a reboot or at least a connection reset.  Looks like a reboot from the log though.

Tired of messing around with D-Link and all the broken promises?  Want to roll your
dgl-4500 firmware back to 1.15 right now?  The two links below have the fix. This
is not a joke.  It works.  Both sites are very reputable and people have tested it.

http://www.ispgeeks.com/wild/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4224#15926

and

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r23720820-downgrade-possible-DGL4500-12xNA115

Follow the simple instructions and tell d-link where to stuff it.

Christmas was a little late this year but better late than never!
