No LAN or WAN Activity
« on: October 09, 2013, 01:26:34 PM »

Hey again guys,

I have just replaced my DGL-4300 with a 4500 Model.

Upon plugging in I notice none of the LAN or WAN ports are functioning.

The PC flashes up that it is acquiring an IP address for a second and then says the cable in unplugged - It does this over and over again.

Looking at the status of the router I see the connected port is flashing connected and then to not connected - this is also happening to ports that are not plugged in!

I can gain access to the router no problem at all via wireless, I have updated firmware to 1.23 (from 1.21) to no avail.

Disable gamefuel, qos, firmware update, wish etc with no effect.

I have tried 3 different PC's with different NIC's with the same result.

I can force a connection by setting the network card in the PC to 10mbps half duplex and set a static IP but I cannot ping the router or obtain and IP address.

Has anyone seen this before and can offer a solution?

I bought this from Ebay with the understanding it was an DLink Refurbished item but the seller is not willing to return or to replace but is placing the issue in DLink's hands.

How when I ordered this in september the router was under support - Today when I received the router - They are EOL.

What can I do here?

Did you follow the FW update procedures using IE or FF to send the file?
Was the router working before the update that you know of?

I presume you can access the web page still? I hope.
Swap cables and test router with out the ISP modem connected. Use one known working PC to connect. Might try a different one. Might resend the FW file again using FF directly LAN wired connected, do a factory reset, send file, factory reset and set up from scratch.

Wonder if this was a bad unit from the start...

The 4500 became EOL last year sorry to say. And I don't think D-Link will do anything about it. Ebay should if you get them involved...

Seems to be a dead unit from the start - Only wireless is functioning. I updated the firmware over wireless (I know this is not good practice)

LAN ports seem to be dead and not responding, whether connected to modem or not does not make a difference.

I will try reloading the firmware and another factory reset but it looks as if it's a hardware issue.

Will get back to you.

No lock with seller or D-Link Australia or New Zealand as the product was not sold by them.

Is anyone here able to get in contact with someone at D-Link who may be able to help me out here?

Regards,
Jermy

Ya, since the DGL series was really only a NA region, not sure if your going to be able to get this fixed and support. Especially now thats its been phased out.

Sorry man.

Only thing I would try is to maybe find a different PC to test it with. Find someone in the U.S.A. that could maybe do a 2nd opinion test on it.  :-\
