Title: Restrict network usage for one machine
Post by: chaitanyakumar0 on November 11, 2014, 10:53:42 AM
Hi,

I have dir 600l router and my doubt is can I restrict any one machine which connects to my router? Ex, one of my friend comes to my home and connects to my router and updates all his apps in his mobile, and this takes some MBs of data. I have his mobile's mac address and I have added it to reservation also. So, he gets only one IP to his mobile always. Now can I restrict network usage to my friend's mobile? I have enabled traffic control and updated download bandwidth manually and upload bandwidth manually settings. I was thinking, at download bandwidth manually and upload bandwidth manually I have to enter my ISP connection speed and at the traffic control rules option(which is at the bottom) I enter my frnd's ip address and set option to gurantee minimum bandwidth and set value as 15 kbps etc.. My internet package is 4MBPS. Please check the image here:

Can someone please help..

Chaitanya.

Give your setting a test to see how it works...
You may need to and another rule for ALL Other Devices as see here for Multiple Devices and give a higher priority and value:
Gaming and QoS for XBL (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42011.0)

Hi,

I just solved it by a small setting change. As you can see in the pic, i have set the option to "guarantee minimun bandwidth". Now i changed to "Restricted maximum download bandwidth" and set it to 15 kbps(i wanted to test this feature.. so reduced it that much). Now i opened my mobile and connected to wifi. It says browsing for ever.... 15kbps speed.. ;)
