Title: Rev B and an internal ip on WAN
Post by: User on November 08, 2008, 12:19:39 PM
I have noticed that the Rev B 615 will NOT allow the WAN port to be used
with an internal IP such as 192.168.0.1, but my Rev A 615 will... ???

This has been a problem for me on more than 3 occasions...

I work in very remote locations and all of our available internet is satellite...

Some of the HugesNet Modems use 192.168.0.1 a like a "mask" for the real IP, almost like the modem is a router...the router Rev B will not allow this ip to be assigned to the WAN port, but Rev A will....

When I run the setup wiz, it claims I am already attached to a router, and to remove it and replace it with the DIR, when I am really conneted to the modem with the ip of 192.168.0.1...

Also, if I am connected directly to the modem, and type 192.168.0.1 in IE, a modem status page comes up with my HughesNet settings...

Is there a way to disable this function on the Rev B router?

Is that a fix in the Beta firmware up on the sticky?

Just trash all my Rev B boxes and stick with Rev A?  :-\

If anyone can shed some light on this for me that would be great!  ;D
