I can't say I can agree with this, with all the frustration I went and bought a netgear WNDR3700 router. I'm connected on wireless N 5Ghz and running no problems through 7 walls in the house from where the router is and the location of my notebook.
I would have to say something is still not right with the wireless unless you have huge interference in your area.
On the DLink routers, 5 GHz seems to work best with LoS and outdoors. Not so much for indoors for some reason. My guess it's just the radio. I've had the 4500 for over a couple of years now, and it's never been stable on 5 GHz no matter how close or far I've been from the router.
As far as the FW goes, I've always done my normal battery of testing on it. I flashed it about 21 hours ago, and it seems to be stable. No reboots yet, and wireless seems MUCH more stable. I've yet to do some full transfers of 2GB+ from wired Gb to my Wireless N MBP.
It does seem more responsive for sure, and DNS relay seems to be working as intended. However, I am still having some problems with UPnP, and noticing a decrease in speed on the upload portion.
Update: I thought I'd try to run some of the GameFuel settings, as I took them off previously due to router load perhaps, which caused crashing. I set up the rules as normal, however I had a problem where after inputting 1 rule, and clicking reboot later, and starting to setup another rule and hitting save would kick me out to the login screen. Can this get looked at?
I also noticed that after about 5 minutes of inactivity, it will kick you as well. There used to be an option where you could specify the idle timeout, which brought you back to the login as well. It seems to have disappeared. Any reason as to why?
