Add-on "Mediatomb v.0.12.1" for D-Link NAS
« on: December 04, 2014, 03:53:00 AM »

[Add-on] Mediatomb v.0.12.1

[Description]
MediaTomb is an open source (GPL) UPnP MediaServer with a nice web user interface, it allows you to stream your digital media through your home network and listen to/watch it on a variety of UPnP compatible devices.
MediaTomb implements the UPnP MediaServer V 1.0 specification that can be found on http://www.upnp.org/. The current implementation focuses on parts that are required by the specification, however we look into extending the functionality to cover the optional parts of the spec as well.

Mediatomb uses MySQL. On the DNS-320L MySQL is not running. Add-on will not be until the official firmware MySQL will not start on system startup.

Hi vtverdohleb,

Thank you very much for this add-on. I am not quite sure if I am posting at right place. Sorry to unearth this topic, but I cannot find answers to my issue.

I have installed package: DNS-327L Mediatomb Package v2.00_03032014_UA from your link
on a DNS-327L FW DLINK_DNS327L.1.07b06(3.13.0422.2016)

Everything was fine for around 10 days until last night. I was really happy about this media server, accessing my video and music from my Freebox Revolution through UPnP. I watch a last episode of a serie last night and then went to bed. However, coming back home tonight the UPnP server is not listed on the Feebox Server any more. I opened the DNS-327L web interface and it takes for ever before it can display "My Favorite Applications". Anyway, I click on the "MediaTomb" icon and tried to launch the interface but I got an error message: "Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at 192.168.0.XX:9002".
I restarted the DNS-327L through the web interface. And still nothing. When I go to the "Add-on Center", MediaTomb is not listed as if it was not installed.

I tryed to re-install it and I got the warning message, clicked OK and then a message saying that the installation failed.

MediaTomb still appears on "MyFavorite Application" but not in "Applications". Nothing seems to happen when I click or double-click on the icon anymore.

I can access "http://192.168.0.XX/Mediatomb/index.html" but the page takes for ever to finish loading. If I press Esc, I can click on "Launch interface" but then I get the Firefox port 9002 error again.

Have you come accross such issue before?

Install the file manager, for example elFinder (any version). With elFinder, go to the "Volume_1 / Nas_Prog" directory and delete the "Mediatomb" directory. Restart the NAS. Install add-on Mediatomb.

Hi, thank you for your reply.

I tried installing elfinder "DNS-327L elfinder Package v1.02_07182016_COM" and "DNS-327L elfinder Package v1.01_03182015_UA" but both fail with message"install failed please check file".

I re-started the NAS but still the same and the interface to ShareCenter is for ever so slow. I am supposed to have ajax server running but it only shows "Recycle_Bin".

Any idea to what I should try next to sort this out?

Edit: By doing a "shutdown" of the DNS-327L, rather than a "re-start", I can now see my add-ons icons for MediaTomb, Ajaxplorer and My Surveillance. MediaTomb is running again!?! And "DNS-327L elfinder Package v1.01_03182015_UA" installed without a hitch! I do not quite get it but all seem to work fine and interface pages are loading better.

Cheers

Hi,

Something I have noticed is that MediaTomb seems to stop alone and I need to stop and restart it through the d-link web interface "Management" "System status" "System Services".

Is this issue a known problem? Is there a way to make MediaTomb re-start automatically or at given interval? Is there a way to check the settings?

Cheers

Hi, nearly a year since my last unanswered post and I am still having this problem. Once in a while MediaTomb just stops and I have to stop and re-start the service through the d-link web interface "Management" "System status" "System Services".

I tried several times to delete with elFinder "Volume_1 / Nas_Prog / Mediatomb" directory, shutdown and restart the NAS, and re-install add-on Mediatomb, but the problem keeps reoccurring.

Is there a fix for this?

Cheers
Eric

Mediatomb stopped its development in 2012, if not mistaken. For this reason, there is no desire to understand what is wrong with it.

;) Thank you for the reply!

Shame it provides a nice little service. What are the alternatives in the "light weight" category? I tried Plex but that's a bit far fetch for my usage. ;D

Personally, I prefer to watch movies online, so I can not recommend anything for DLNA.
