How do you feed the outdoor cord?
« on: September 20, 2019, 06:10:34 AM »

I have the DCS-8600LH outdoor camera but do not know the best way to feed the power cord to the inside plug. If I plug it into outside socket, socket is open to weather & intruder could just sneak around & unplug w/o being seen.  can you feed the plug through a door or window w/o it being compromised?  How did You do this?

apologies...earlier the post had the wrong camera model#

I was hoping that was the case :)

You can either make a hole into the house and plug it in inside or run an extension cord.  I wish they made it easy to disconnect the cable from the camera so you do not have to make such a big hole to fit the cable through. Depending on your environment, make sure to weatherproof any openings.

Thank You.  I just don't think we can drill holes for these.  I know there are 2 completely wireless models but they're only in the UK (although were shown at the Las Vegas show);  Have you heard if these are coming the US?

The D-Link models are not currently going to be sold in the US. Not sure why...

You can cut off the USB plug, in that cable is one wire and a shield. After that you can easily put that cable throuh a small hole in the wall, buy a USB connector wich you can soldering or screw and connect the wire and shield.
