How to get live stream for DCS-4603
« on: April 24, 2018, 01:28:44 PM »

I recently purchased a DCS-4603.  I can log into it via web browser and see the live view.  I want to allow people to view the live stream through their web browser without having to enter a username and password.  I don't see much documentation on this when setting it up so was wondering if anyone knew how to do it. I'm not having any luck.  Thanks

I do not know for sure but try:

http://IPADDRESS:PORT_NUMBER/video/mjpg.cgi

rtsp://IPADDRESS:PORT_NUMBER/live1.sdp

Thanks for the response.  I had played with something similar before posting, using http://IPADDRESS/stream1.mjpeg but it asks to open or download.  If I choose open, it starts downloading something anyway.  We have a couple other D Link cameras that are not HD and all we use to access them is put aview.htm at the end of the IP.  This makes sense as it is really a webpage people are accessing.  Not sure why it doesn't work as easily on this model.  Still looking for suggestions if anyone has them.

Since this a "business class" camera they may have made it more difficult to access (for security reasons).

I tested with the DCS-4703 (same family camera) and could not make it work. I changed the HTTP port to 8000 and RTSP to 8001 in the camera, then on my router I port forwarded it to the camera. No luck. I will ask a tech to help out with this today.

I tried most of the commands from this list --> http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=59172.0

Tested again using http://IPADDRESS:PORT/video1.mjpeg and it worked but it did ask for username and password.  Chrome and firefox worked normal, IE 11 got the irritating open or download message and never would display the video feed.

You could create a new user and password (keep it simple) and use this:

http://username:password@IPaddress:port/video1.mjpeg

I will have a tech find out if it is possible without the username and password. We may not get an answer til next week but I will post as soon as I get the info.

Thanks, I will look into using a generic user account.  I think guest is already set up as I tried creating it a few days ago.  Do you know the password for the guest user?  I'll try that first.

There is not a default Guest user. If you created the user "guest" you would have set up the password. Log in as admin and look under User List to see if it is there.

I tried to create "guest" a while back, it popped up saying it already existed.  I did create another guest account and logged in with it and it most likely will be what I use.  I just have to figure out the syntax to allow people when clicking on a shortcut to pass the logon info so they don't have to.  I'm not talking about using the video1.mjpeg link you mentioned earlier.  The stream link is just choppy while the live view is smooth.

**EDIT**
I figured out the stream choppiness and so far using the stream link, viewing it seems to work well enough.
However, http://username:password@IPaddress:port/stream1.mjpeg does not pass the logon info.  You are still
prompted to enter the guest login info.  Any ideas?

On a separate note, when I received the camera, there was no power supply included.  Do you know how
I can get D Link to send me one?

I got word last night that the newer cameras due to security reasons require a username and password for viewing video so unfortunately no way around it (with a direct url).

Several model cameras do not include a power adapter since it is Power over Ethernet. They can be purchased separately.

It needs a 12V DC, 1.5A power supply. Amazon sells a bunch.

For example - https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-DCS-4602EV-DCS-4603-DCS-4701E-DCS-4802E/dp/B075S2Y4J9

I looked on D-Link's site and do not see power supplies for the Vigilance line of cameras which is strange.

OK, thanks for the info.  I'll work out the logistics logging in.

I'm surprised about the power though.  Not everyone uses POE and though that's how
I'm using it now, where I plan to deploy it I need to have it powered off manually sometimes.
