DNS-343 & HDD shutdown
« on: September 30, 2008, 03:17:40 AM »

Hi!
I have DNS-343 with 3 1Tb HDD's: 1Tb WD GP, 2x1Tb Hitachi
The problem is after I shut down DNS-343 all the HDD's are still continue to rotate. After 1 hour of staying powered off the body of the DNS-343 become hot (±50 C). The only way to stop them is to disconnect power cable from the unit. Is that normal behavior or there is something wrong with my DNS-343?
Firmware 1.02
HDD's connected as Standard.

How are you shutting down the unit? Via front panel or the web GUI shut down button or both? Did it just start doing this on 1.02 firmware or was it doing this before as well?

I've tried to shutdown both ways with the same result.
As I remember the problem started when I shutdown through WEBGUI for the first time.
Today I updated firmware but it not helped. I tried to reset to factory settings, no result. All disks formatted ext3. Tried to connect NAS to router and directly to my computer, same problem anywhere. Next week I'll buy 3 more WD's hope it will help.

Also I metntioned that WD is cool but both Hitachi are relatively hot.
