What´s the best media player addon??? [DNS-320LW]
« on: March 08, 2018, 11:42:49 AM »

Hi,

I´ve been stuggling to get the "perfect" addon to share media files to other devices (TV´s, pc´s, smartphones, etc), but still not completely satisfied.

Native software, works well but no subtitles on movies, so, disabled it.

Serviio:
Used to use Serviio on a windows 10 PC I had to do this job, worked very well for years.
Tried the Serviio addon, but I have a problem while indexing.
I share 3 folders, 1 for movies, 1 for music and 1 for photos. (each folder has multiple folders inside. Movies ~60 files / Music ~5400 files / Photos ~7200 files )
Indexing files from folder takes very longtime. I mean, really longtime. For indexing the Movies and Music folders took around 6 or 7 hours, the Photos been indexing for 3 days (and indexed only around 2000 files), and I gave up.

miniDLNA
Great app, indexed all the Photos and Music, but only 3 movies...  :o
Moved on.

Twonky
For now, the one in use. Everything is indexed, only downside is the metadata, Serviio is much better on this subject.

Plex
Installed it, but not yet tested it.

So in resume, I wanted Serviio because I know how good it is, been using it for years on windows os, but indexing came to a nightmare on DNS320LW
miniDLNA is good, simple, but not all files get indexed.
Twonky pretty good, metadata ain´t as good as Serviio.
Plex, can´t give my experience opinion yet.

Anyone with same problem on Serviio? Any tip or clue?

Thank you
