I got a new DIR-882 to replace my aging DIR-880L, which works flawlessly, and now it's been nothing but trouble. First, the router randomly disconnects from the internet and sometimes even a reboot won't bring internet connection back on. (I have to unplug power for a minute!)
Secondly, my android phone does not always get its notifications. But I do get them when I am in 3G ,4G and LTE. I tried turning on or off all firewall options but still no notifications under wifi. It looks like the router flushes TCP, UDP connections too fast.
Then I decided to flash DD-WRT and everything worked well, I would get the notifications but as you know the 2.4Ghz radio is broken (low speed) and under a fast download the router crashes. So back to stock firmware through emergency recovery to test again and the problems are still the same. Even my cheap spare router does not show these problems. I will be returning the router as I do not plan to wait for a stable firmware.

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
- What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
- What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
Try loading v1.10 and see if same thing happens?

- Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Ensure that different SSID names are used between each WiFi 2.4/5Ghz radios. Can be anything and not something that's already in use by any neighbouring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
- What wireless modes are you using?
- For routers with Smart Connect Technology (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=62072.0) , try disabling this feature and test. Under Wireless.
- 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz routers: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N or AC on 5Ghz?
- Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
- Try setting a manual Channel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_channels) to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear. 13 for EU regions. Try channel 48 or 149 on 5Ghz.
- Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by that maybe causing interferences?
- Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use a WiFi Scanner (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48327.0) to find out. How many?

Dear FurryNutz, the problems I have have nothing to do with my modem since it works with DD-WRT. With my DIR-880 everything is good with dd-wrt or d-link firmware. They just have a bad firmware (1.11B) on the DIR-882 and I wish they could have done better with this router. Just a big waste of time.
Also I do not plan to go back to the previous firmware as it defeats the purpose of an upgraded firmware. If they want to pay me for the troubleshooting then I am all in. lol

Asking for modem information may or may not have anything related however modems can effect routers and is good information for trouble shooting. The question is valid an relevant.
Since you have WRT loaded you'll need to post about anything related in there forums. Others are having good working routers. We'll consider this closed.
Good luck then.

882 refurb arrived yesterday. Went online yesterday after updating to v1.04 intermediate from v1.01, then directly applied v1.11 B01, factory reset and setup from scratch. Online with a C7800 in modem mode. Zero issues.
