Router setup CD-ROM dgl 4500?
« on: January 11, 2011, 07:47:36 AM »

I lost my cd-rom that came with the dgl 4500.
Where could I download it?

I need it to set up my wireless password, I don't remember it and I don't know how to make a new one password.

thanks and bye

I think the software is here. But don't quote me on that, never actually downloaded it, and its a 75MB file so don't care to. To be honest, have never used the CD. I suggest using the manual and actually learning the product. :-) Training wheels have to come off sooner or later my friend.

Heres where you can see all the downloads.

Sadly, unless you know the password to log onto the router, you have to wipe the memory on the device, and then rebuild all of the settings and such, unless you saved the settings to a file prior to setting the password. For the future, I recommend using Password Safe http://pwsafe.org/, or a similar program so you only need to remember the "safe" password to get access to all of your passwords.

I go a step further by using a biometric security device so that I can use a much harder "safe" password...

Oh, and I believe your manual deals with how to clear the device memory. It involves holding the reset button for a certain period of time...

Hope this helps,
Hank

I think he was only having a issue with the wireless passphrase, not the routers password. I base that assumption that he used the CD, so he probably doesn't know about the gateway. But +1 on reading the manual. Much better then just running the CD

And if anything, do a full reset of the router with the back reset button. It will clear everything and use the default settings to gain access.  ;D

Only do a Factory reset if no other choice. If he has DSL and a printer set up, and someone set up his router for him..and he does a factory reset..yea, that is going to get ugly.
