In that scenario the answer is No. The new drive will not be aligned as 4k since it would cause issues in the Raid with the other non aligned drive. It would be aligned as a regular 512byte drive.

If your unit currently has 512byte drives installed in RAID 1 configuration.
You have a drive failure in the future.
You can only buy 4k drives.
You have a problem.

My question is, when is the final version of the firmware planned to be released and will it be okay to install it on the UK C1 version?

Well I'm running this beta on my UK C1 box no problems, so I imagine it will be fine.

Well over a year ago this question was asked. I dont think you will see it soon. Personally Synology will soon be getting my money, many more features and regular firmware releases. I think the DNS 323 is restricted by its hardware now.

At this point, the guy supporting this is probably being overworked to fix the bugs from the newer NAS boxes, and will probably get to DNS-323 1.10 whenever he has a chance.  Lets consider ourselves lucky that we even have a recent beta available for a product this old.

Hello D-Link,

please release a new Firmware even in beta stage. Although the latest 1.10b7 is running not bad, the 1.09 offers more stability and reliability so far. As I am very satisfied with my DNS-323, I just want to add two new 2TB drives, but for this I must and want to use 1.10. The new media server is not as kompatible as the present one and I still have random network losses.

Please do me a favour...

Thank you very much in advance and have a nice day!

I just picked up a third DND323 and 2x2TB drives. I upgraded to 1.10B7, formatted the drives, then loaded the more stable v1.09. You may want to consider that option too until a real/fixed/stable v1.10 is available.

I have 2 DNS 323s.
Primary is 3 to 4 yrs old with 2x500GB WD Blue Caviar drives in Raid 1.  One just failed, and is 4 months out of warranty.
Secondary was purchased in February with 2x2TB WD EARS drives.  To be configured in RAID 1 and become the Backup drive to all the computers in the house (and to backup the Primary DNS323).

1) If I flash the Secondary to fw 1.10b7, format the drives and then return it to v1.09, will there be any performance issues? (I am not using uPNP, nor any media server on the secondary.)

2) I need to replace the failed drive in the Primary, ASAP.  I am looking at getting 2X 2TB drives (WD EARS) and using fw 1.10b7 to format it (after backing up all the data to the Secondary).
Again as in #1 is there data issues or would it be recommended to stay with v 1.10b7?

Neither is running any ftp/itunes/media server. there is No Funplug or other enhancements on either of these.

I think DLink has lost the interest in releasing a new bugfree firmware for the DNS-323. For them this device is pretty old and they want to sell their newer DNS-320/325.

It is a pity. They have started so enthusiastic but came to an end too fast.

Well, this will reflect badly on them. If I don't see an official release of their 1.10 firmware then I'm not buying a D-Link NAS next time. The idea is: Why would one buy 320 or 325 knowing that down the short road one would be abandoned? I for one would like to know that when I buy something I would expect full and loyal support from D-Link.
