On the Dlink website, the Dir 857 is claimed to have up to 300 MBps speed. Is that the speed I'm getting from my device to the router or my speed from device to the server I'm testing with?
For example if I'm using speedtest.net, the fastest speed I can generally achieve is around 60 MBps from a LAN device. When I test with my wireless device, I get speeds in the mid 20s MBps.
I'm not complaining, I'm just wondering if these numbers make sense or if I can make my wireless even faster.
Thanks.

Thats the connection speeds between device and router. Not actual file xfer speeds.

Great, thanks.
How would I be able to measure the speed from my mobile device to my router? Is there some sort of app for that?
I'm assuming I'm getting great speeds but I want to confirm.

Many different apps available. I would check with your phone makers app list and see what is available.

I've never tried this with mobile devices. But I suppose, there are apps available for this purpose, too...
The problem is rather, for benchmarking you need software working together on both ends.
When testing the connection between two computers, there are programs to be started on both computers. - One as server and the other one as client.
One other possibility is to transfer big files and measure the time needed. But this is by far not as accurate, as several other factors influence this measurement (reading from and writing to storage, for example).

@nestolea: I was thinking the exact same thing.
@furrynutz: are you aware of an ios app that will allow me to measure transfer speeds between my phone/tablet and the router?

Not off the top of my head.
Let us know if you find any.
