Day/Night Hysteresis in Auto mode
« on: September 05, 2013, 12:12:13 PM »

I just got this camera and updated the firmware to 1.01.10.

The camera is flipping back and forth between day and night mode about once every two minutes.  This is both annoying (causes motion events) and I'm sure not good for the internal mechanism.  Under extremely bright or dark conditions this does not occur.  I have the sensitivity set to "Medium <20lux".

I'm asking that this behavior be improved so this does not happen.  (Weigh time since last state change more and increase the dead-band.)  This is improved slightly by lowering the sensitivity to "High <30lux".

If it keeps doing this I consider it defective and I'm sure the ICR will fail shortly. :(

And some other concerns:
  • Is there an IR filter over the light sensor???  (Could cause this behavior.)
  • 10-30lux is very high illumination to go into night mode.  This needs improvement as well.
  • I see D-Link didn't use IR corrected optics.  Focus stinks in night mode.
