DIR-857 cuts my interned speed ( bandwidth)
« on: July 02, 2015, 03:22:41 AM »

Hey guys, I've had this router for about a year and haven't resolved the issue of it cutting my wifi speed to 9.45 MBits MAXIMUM, although through cable I get 99...... If anybody had this issue figured out, please write me back! Thanks!

( Hardware v.A1, Software v.1.04, I PAY FOR 100MBits/second)

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?
  • Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
  • Has a Factory Reset been performed?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
  • By-pass the main host router and check internet connection by connecting a wired LAN PC directly to the ISP modem to verify connection access and ISP speeds.
  • Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Link> Cat6 is recommended.
  • Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask. Link>Checking MTU Values

Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router. Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
  • Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options, Advanced/QoS

I mine online today. Even though I disabled the WiFi radios on the router since I have AC class AP for wireless, router still runs great:

This test was using a Mac Mini OSX 10.10.5 LAN connected to a DIR-865L in Bridge mode connected to a Linksys WRT1900AC running in wired AP mode thats LAN connected to the back of the DIR-857.  ;D
