But when I connect the win7 laptop using an ethernet cable to the switch it detects the other computers......
The switch is connected to the router....

Is the router blocking me from accessing the network thru Wifi???

Windows 7 introduced a new concept called HomeGroups.  These made connecting Windows 7 machines much easier, but can be a pain in the *** with older machines.

Pratjoehahn- check to see if WLAN Partition has been checked under Advanced > Advanced Wireless.  If it is checked - uncheck it.

Look, I may be asking too much but this is one huge pain in everyone's brain to setup a network with both win7 and Xp computers. Please help me resolve this problem ASAP.Its been over a month and my patience is wearing thin.

Look cant the Dlink ppl talk with Microsoft sadists to come up with something or cant the Dlink ppl release an update which makes it easier to connect XP and Win7 machines.

Don't know what to tell you, I have XP and Win 7 machines on my 655 and I have no problem with shared folders.
Try this unshare the folders and reboot the machine.  Reshare the folder, make sure you check the permissions tab that the everyone group is also listed there with the read alllowed.

The 615 can't be that much different than my 655.

Might I recommend that you use team viewer and allow one of us to remote in and check your router settings live and your PC network settings?

Yeah sure but on which computer do you need team viewer...(XP or Win7 or both)??
I know what is teamviewer but Ive never worked with it but Ill figure it out.
I  had used ultra VNC before but had to uninstall it  bcoz Kaspersky treated it as a threat and used to show pop-ups every second...

Look here guys, I have some good news as well as some bad news.......
I can connect to the XP PCs after I renamed them and the Win7 lappy. Now they are connected to the network WORKGROUP.
Here is my previous network diagram:

Problem is I have to connect the Win7 lappy to the switch thru a LAN cord(RJ-45). And when I go back to WiFi-n the problem is back again.
Here is the new Network diagram:

Now the question is - Why can't I access the network thru the WiFi-n:

The lappy is a Samsung N148 Plus running Win7 Ultimate and a Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter.

But in Advanced>Advanced Wireless I have these settings....

Transmit Power :   High
Beacon Period :    (20..1000)
RTS Threshold :    (0..2347)
Fragmentation :    (256..2346)
DTIM Interval :    (1..255)

WMM Enable :   Yes
Short GI :   Yes

BTW I my router is a Hardware Version: C2     Firmware Version: 3.03WW.  Is it very old??

You have top be patient - we are users just like you.  I don't have a 615 so I can just give general information, not sure what Furry has but i think its is one of the DLG's.

Might not even be the router- could be a software firewall that needs to be configured to recognize the local network.  I have seen some of those be the cause of a bunch of problems.

Yes we don't have a 615 and I have a DGL however we can assist in the forums by using the emulators DLink has provided us to help get an idea of the UIs for each router.  ;D I guess he'll have TO be patient then. Hehe.
