Two DAP-1522s and a DNS-323
« on: August 19, 2009, 08:15:23 PM »

one DAP-1522 is an access point (wired to a 2-Wire Residential Gateway for AT&T U-verse) with 802.11n only option.  the other one as a bridge.

my DNS-323 is also to the access point, and one of my desktops is wired to the bridge.  now i should be getting wireless transfer speeds of at least 15MBps between the desktop and the DNS-323, but it barely makes it to 11.6MBps.

i've tried all sorts of combination but it will not go any faster.  the jumbo frame is enabled at 3000 MTU.

also, is the Wi-Fi security necessary, since it has the WPA anyway.

any suggestions please.  thanks!

Hello.

11,6 MB/s is a very good value for a wireless connection.
I would be glad to receive such speeds.

Jumbo frames will not help as a wireless connection does not support it.
It will increase only a direct gigabit connection slightly.

For security settings choose WPA2-PSK with AES only.
It is supported by hardware and will hardly slow down your connection.

thanks, lizzi.  i suppose 11.something MBps is not bad for a wireless transfer, and it's a far cry from a 2.5MBps transfer on an 802.11g network.  although sometimes it's barely adequate when you're wirelessly streaming a blu-ray movie with a lossless soundtrack (i hear stuttering every now and then).

Yes, for the moment one must still make some compromises with wireless 11N.
Above all Media streaming, for which it is meant, could be better.
The pure data transfer rates are quite good.

But we'll see the next generation 11N soon  ;D
