Upgraded to firmware 1.10 -- now encountering new problems
« on: April 12, 2021, 05:22:37 PM »

Glad to see that the parental control has been redesigned (separating online time and bedtime) but I haven't been able to use this feature due to the following problems (related perhaps?):
1. From Connected Clients page: One alexa unit and one windows 10 laptop can't be set into parental control at all --> failed to save.
2. From Parental Control page/Profile Page: unable to save when the windows 10 laptop is added. Error message: "The new settings cannot be saved. Please try again."
3. After numerous attempts on #1 and #2, I can't even connect the Alexa unit to the router. Alexa found the SSID but unable to connect.

After updating FW, did you factory reset the router and setup from scratch and then try to add the devices?

I had to register after coming across this forum to see I'm not the only one experiencing issues with the latest firmware upgrade. I had left the setting to automatic update which seems to have happened last night. So far I've encountered:
1. I can't log in to the router using Firefox any more, it just tells me my password is incorrect. Luckily Chrome still works.
2. The webpage reports that the device is a DIR-X1560 rather than DIR-X5460
3. The update changed the name of the 2.4Ghz AP so none of my Lifx lights worked until I was able to log in and disable smartconnect and change the name back to the old AP name. Very disorienting at 6AM I can tell you.
4. Devices on my 2.4Ghz network seem to be pretty flaky now but admittedly I haven't had a lot of time to troubleshoot today.

For a while this morning I was convinced someone had hacked my router and changed the password on me until I discovered that my 5GHz devices were unaffected. Needless to say I've disabled automatic updates!

I upgraded the other day and didn't see any issues until today.  Two of my systems that use the little M.2 Wireless card could not connect, went back to older firmware and they connected right away.  Will try upgrade and reset later.  All other systems had no issues after the upgrade and connected right away.

Downloaded the new firmware file, did upgrade and factory reset and now all clients are connecting.

Yes, that's what I ended up doing to fix it.

Ran the update and the router rebooted very few minutes, couldn't get anything to connect.    The factory reset fixed things up, back to normal operation.  I think the release notes need to indicated the factory reset is required.

I love this router, the thing has been stable and fast for months.  I don't even need the extender anymore as it reaches 2 floors down.  Hopefully this update continues that tradition.

The parental control seems to be working as I need it to be.
I only wish that the D-link Wifi app could access the router wherever I am -- i.e. using mobile connection and not bounded by the wifi connection, so I could still manage the network from anywhere.

thanks!
