Once a day, unable to connect to WIFI until reset router
« on: January 18, 2016, 03:29:27 PM »

I've tested with v7 of firmware that came with router,  v8 of firmware, and v9 beta

For each, when I get home from work, my devices are not able to connect to WIFI until I reset the router, and then they work until i leave for work the next day.  so it seems taht every 16 - 24 hours, something goes wrong.

I already exchanged my router once and the same problem is occurring with the new one.

Proximity to the router doesn't matter,  I can't connect even if i'm right next to it.

I've tried disabling the IPV6 by setting it to    Local Connectivity Only  but that shouldn't even matter, as i'm not even talking about being unable to connect to Internet,    just the router itself

I've tried with smart connected enabled and then disabled, no luck

Has anyone else experienced this and/or have a solution?

I really don't think it's a hardware issue since it's happened to two different routers.

I forgot to mention that I"ve tried several devices (PC laptop, iphone, macbook) they all experience this issue.

And, these devices are able to see the wifi but when try to connect , get message 'unable to connect to network'

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?
  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?
  Link> >FW Update Process

  • Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by that maybe causing interferences?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use a WiFi Scanner to find out. How many?
  • For routers with Smart Connect Technology , try disabling this feature and test. Under Wireless.

* I'm in Canada
* I didn't perform any factory updates, I'll try that

* No cordless phones in my home
* My neighbour has a WIFI router.  But it's unacceptable if my neighbour's WIFI can bring down my DIR 890L
* As I said, I disabled smart connect

Let us know if the FW update process helps.

What channel is the neighbors wifi using currently?
How do you have each radio configures? What modes and channels are you using?
Try enabling SC after you have manually loaded the FW and set up from scratch.

I have mine enabled and is working for me. My 890L is running in AP mode though.
