2.4ghz stops working but 5ghz works perfectly
« on: January 10, 2018, 09:01:34 PM »

Hey, my router just started exhibiting symptoms in december where my devices wouldn't be able to connect to my 2.4ghz. 5ghz doesn't have any issues at all. You'd be able to see the 2.4ghz ssid, but it just won't connect unless I restart the modem. I've tried changing the channel, switching it from 20/40 auto to only 20, but it's still showing the same problems. Prior to december it was working perfectly, and no settings were changed.

Are there any solutions to this?

Edit: FYI I'm on the latest firmware 1.08ww

I only saw news of this on reddit today.

I'm currently testing it out atm. I've unplugged the power cord to my chromecast, so I'm giving it a day to see if the devices on the 2.4ghz band will disconnect or be unable to reconnect. So far, everything seems to be fixed and running smoothly. My printer (wifi) works again without need of restarting of the modem, as well as my laptop directly being able to resume connection to the 2.4ghz band.  I'll give an update tomorrow and see if this could be a temp fix.

I can conclude that my wifi has been fixed after unplugging the chromecast. No troubles at all now. Guess I'll just have to wait for either google or dlink to provide hotfix.

I would presume this is a Google issue and would need to be addresses by them since this is the only item that is causing problems when used. I recommend you contact them and see what they say. They may need to work with D-Link as well on some level maybe. It would need to be taken up with Google though. If you get any information, let us know.

Good Luck.
