D-Link N300 DIR-615 Home Router Port-Forwarding Problem
« on: September 24, 2016, 08:51:11 AM »

Hello,

My wireless home router's hardware version is N1, while firmware version is 2.5.28 and model no is DIR-615. And when I enter the router's user interface through 192.168.0.1, I can not seem to find a dedicated section for Port-Forwarding. Here are the screenshots of two titles, namely as, Advanced and Firewall:

And trust me, I checked all the sections, there is no such port-forwarding.

By the way, I've recently come across with a forum message, which claimed that "Virtual Server" section under Firewall might have been the solution. I tried that too.

But that virtual server thing did not work either. I checked my port but it was still not open.

I want to port-forward mainly for torrent. To improve my upload speed. Soo.. if you know how to port-forward on this router with given firmware, I will be more than happy to hear it. Thanks in advance.

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

Port Forwarding wont help Torrent downloads as they are not dependent upon using ports. Torrent is mostly dependent upon bandwidth.

This modem router may not have port forwarding and may use the firewall rules and IP Filter features to help with any PF needs.

Yea they are not dependent, but port-forwarding sure do boost download/upload speed, especially upload one. You get the maximum out of your connection. Here is what my torrent client says:

And I am from Turkiye.

I also tried IP filter, but it did not work either. As you've said, my modem may not be supporting port-forwarding.
