Advice on setting up a PoE camera network
« on: July 19, 2016, 10:27:46 AM »

I have purchased a couple DCS-3010 and DCS-4701E cameras along with a DGS-1210-28P switch. I need to be able to send the individual camera feeds to separate video monitors w/o having to buy multiple PC's for every location needing a display. I eventually want to have 10 - 12 cameras being displayed on 10 -12 monitors through out my facility. We use these to monitor product flow. For example an operator needs to see at their station what the product flow is like at a remote location to determine a course of action, such as speed up or slow down the flow. Can anyone help me out?

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link sales and support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

D-Link said it can't be done.

Ok. What I was told as well. A PC would be needed at locations where monitoring is needed.

I have found a company called GeoVision that makes an IP Decoder for use with only a monitor. Apparently you plug the decoder into your LAN and then you can configure your cameras to be seen on your stand alone monitor. I am researching this option now.

Will let you know how it works in a week or so after I purchase one and try it.

Nice. Please let us know what you find out. Hope it works well as a solution for one monitor.
