So pulling out this system today. Verified that Ethernet back haul works with the B point connected to the A point router thru a LAN switch. THANK YOU D-Link. ;D Very nice since I have a remote location in the home in the basement wired for Ethernet.
I would like to see if D+Link could change the status of the B point from wireless to wired when and only when the B point is connected via Ethernet if possible:

Would be helpful to visually see that the RBS is connected wired instead of wireless. I didn't see any status change after the B point was connected over a wired connection. Something to consider for the 1203 system as well if it's not already supported.
However, i found a bug, flaw or an oversight of something that I'd like to see get fixed for the 2202 series. Please.
So in router mode we see, Operation Mode in the UI:

If a user selects the Bridge mode, from the Operation mode drop down menu and applies the settings. The transition to Bridge mode works.
However, when in bridge mode, there is no Operation mode seen in the UI:

So if the 2200 router is in Bridge mode, and a user wants to revert back to "router mode", There is no easy way to get the router configured back to router mode. I looked else where in the UI and didn't find anything to revert back to router mode. Opera and IE11. I had to factory reset the A point and setup the router from scratch which is really inconvenient and doesn't seem logical as it should be able to revert back with a flip of a mode switch in the UI and go back to router mode. A user should not have to factory reset the A point to get back to router mode.
Please review this and please consider adding a UI Operation mode switch so users can revert back to router mode from Bridge mode.
One last request, Please change the word "Bridge" mode under operation mode to "Access Point" or "AP" mode. I think I mentioned this before. Bridge mode seems a bit mis-leading as "Bridge" mode we mostly refer to "wireless bridge mode" where wifi connected as a client to another wifi AP source. The "bridge" mode on 2200 when set operates as a wired LAN connected Access Point for wireless clients to connect too. Thus it should be worded in the UI as "Access Point" mode in the UI instead of "Bridge" mode. Please consider using correct working or nomenclature for the Operation Mode for the 2200.
Since the ethernet backhaul is now supported, i'll be putting this online and seeing how it works out live. ;D

Well I tired to connect my 2202 system only tonite. Had a hard time with just the A point router. Seems to be an odd issue with DNS relay being disabled. I had to clear out and flush DNS caches on PCs to make them work and get internet access. Something I usually don't have to do. After I thought I had things running ok, I connected the B point to a switch I had at my desk just long enough to see the COVR led turn WHITE. I noticed that there was down activity on the switch and on two PCs connected to this switch after the B point seemed to be connected and up and running. So I figured, lets see what happens when I took it and connected it downstairs in the basement behind 5 LAN switches. The B point seem to connect and came to ready while connected to the switch in the basement. However my iphone and pad would not get internet access for unknown reasons. Also saw the Dlink guest network appear as well. This isn't enabled on the A point router. I had DNS relay disabled on the A point router. I turned DNS Relay back on and finally got internet access with the B point. However the system seem to be very unstable for unknown reasons. The A point WiFi seem to stop working as I noticed my cameras had gone off line. I had power cycled them initially after the A point was online, as they would not re-connect to the SSID name and PW previously used with other routers. They usually re-connect with out having to power cycle them. DCs-933L, 936L and 960L.
So I figured there was something wrong with the B point being wire connected. So I disconnected it and let it re-sync wirelessy to the A Point router. It did and my iphone and pad were able to get internet access. Speedtest was kind of bad. Nothing seen over 95Mpbs with them connected to the B point. :-\
I was hoping to keep the 2202 system online and let it run however my confidence in the wired back haul and stability with DNS Relay left me no choice to remove it and come back to this this weekend and see if I can figure out whats going on. I have other Non D-Link routers and they have worked well with wired back haul using these same switches with no issues. Possible having switches in between could be problematic. My COVR1203 worked last time I had it running, however I can't use it long term as my two NEST controllers don't like it's WiFi signal the rendering them useless with there mobile app. ::)

Issues (out of order):
1. Change Bridge mode to "AP" or "Access Point" mode - Everyone agrees and the request has been made to HQ.
2. Display Ethernet connection vs wireless - Everyone agrees and has been requested.
3. When in "bridge" mode, you currently have to reset it to get it back to router mode. It was in D-Track and not sure if that will change anytime soon.
4. Make sure both units have the latest firmware and reset them. If you want to use B as backhaul, connect via Ethernet directly to A first to sync them. After you get the white LED, unplug and move to your switches.

Ok, so I was able to come back to the 2200 and get it online as I wanted to see how it would do on my home network with the B point wired.
Couple of problems:
1. If I setup the A point router for my networking need prior to putting it on the home network with DNS Relay disabled. I don't get any internet access for some reason. I noticed that my Mac Book Pro what was wired or wireless connected, NO DNS Addresses showed up with DNS Relay disabled. This is the first for me as I normally disable DNS relay on all D-Link routers I've used before. Saw no issues with this until now with the COVR2202. Something with DNS Relay being disabled is not working right. :(
2. I was able to connect the B point extender downstairs at the end of 5 switches that are daisy chained. 3 DLink DGS105/108 were replaced with HP Pro Curve 1800 series non managed switches. The front LED was solid white after getting connected.
However, speed testing with a Galaxy Tab S2, iPhone 6sP and Mac Book Pro 2018 using Ooklas's speed test app resulted in horrible speeds. Nothing over 12-15Mbps on the down. I turned off and back ON, the wifi radios on each device while near the B Point downstairs so I could ensure they were connecting to the B Point there. I have a different Non D-Link MESH system that was just tested and I see near 900Mbps while using that system.
3. The A point router is unstable for some reason as after I rebooted the A point after DNS Relay was enabled then disabled again to see if WAN side DNS would populate devices, i was no longer able to connect to the A Point router from down stairs behind the last switch. Also noticed that my mac book pro wired or wireless would not get an IP address from the A point router. I also noticed that while I was downstairs with the B point that was wire connected, it was solid WHITE, then started blinking Amber is it seemed to loose connection with the A point router after I disabled DNS relay. I also think that maybe changing the DHCP IP address pool from .2 and .254 to .100 thru .150 and applying this change may have caused instability as well while all other wired network devices were online. I presume something that shouldn't make the router hang or cause the router to stop working correctly. I normally get this up and thought I had a day prior before going live this evening. I guess not.
4. Adding that when the 2202 is in Bridge (AP) mode, that guest wifi nework is enabled and being broadcast in the open. Not secure and I can not disable it.
I'd like someone from D-Link to review this and see if they can reproduce any of these issues. I'm most concerned about the DNS Relay issue since my other D-Link routers haven't exhibited this kind of behavior using those models.
I had to remove the 2202 system from operation.
I'll bring out my COVR 1203 system next to see if this operates the same or differently.

Ok so I updated by 1203 system to v1.08 last nite. I factory reset everything and setup from scratch. I preset the A point router for DNS Relay disabled, set SSID name and PW and set a new DHCP IP address pool of 192168.0.100 to .150. Applied all settings and rebooted. Powered it off and staged everything. I Rebooted my ISP modem, disconnected the host router and connected the A Point router. Just connected 1 wired PC to the A point. The router came online and was getting internet. DNS on my Mac Book Pro is showing ISP DNS correctly. I rebooted the A point router and connected my DGS-1100 main network cable to the A point and connected the Mac Book Pro to the DGS. A point came online. Started showing connected devices. I powered ON the B Point down in the basement that was ethernet connected. It eventually appeared on the routers web page. I then ethernet connected the 2nd B point down in the bed room. IT also eventually appeared online and shows WHITE led on top.
All is good and working. This confirms the 1202 system is working with DNS RELAY disabled.
Wired speed test with my mac book pro shows just under 400Mpbs on the down and 52Mbps on the up on a 1Gb/50Mpbs ISP service. I know the 1203 system doesn't support anything near 900Mpbs and seems capped at 300-400Mbps.
So the entire setup with the 1203 system was smooth and saw no issues with DNS.
Hoping the 2202 system can be looked into. I believe this is a FW issue.

I do not see any new BETAs. Latest firmware is 1.04B09. The Operation mode was fixed in v1.04B05 beta but they took it out in B09 and waiting for next firmware to fix it. So unfortunately you have to reset it from AP (bridge mode) back to router mode. ::)
1. When DNS relay is disabled, you have to either statically assign DNS server(s) on your clients or add them manually to the WAN settings on the "router".
2. If you replace the HP with another switch do the good speeds return? (possible quirk with the HP switch)
3. Waiting for response - You may need to reboot both A and B. I would reboot A first then B.

This needs fixed. Having to factory reset isn't a good solution. ::) I guess a work around would be to save off a configuration to file first while in router mode, then reset and apply the config when coming back from AP to router mode. ::)

No, I let the router detect DNS coming from the ISP and then I presume and expect that DNS information to be passed on to the connected clients like all other D-Link routers I configure this way. I'll try inputting the DNS into the router and see what happens. I can't remember if I tried this already though. Something makes me think I did when I first encountered this to see if ether method would work. ::). Overall seems that an odd issue with the 2202 as I don't see any issues like this with the COVR-1203 when I test soon after the 2202 to compare.

Since reporting all this, I since removed the D-Link switches that were in the mix in the daisy chain with all HP Pro Curve 1400 series non managed switches. I haven't had time to check speeds again. I'll test this and report findings. Though this test will be in AP mode. I do need to find a configuration that can help remove one of the switches from the mix I think, though I have seen other MESH systems work with having this many switches in the mix. ;) I supposed I can take all the HP switches out and replace them ALL with D-LINK DGS switches to compare as well.
3. Waiting for response - You may need to reboot both A and B. I would reboot A first then B. I believe I did this and is usually part of my reboot process method. Overall seems that an odd issue with the 2202 as I don't see any issues like this with the COVR-1203.

Hi, am also running into this issue.
If I set up my connection with DNS Relay turned OFF, and DNS manually entered into web-portal settings in both IPV4 and IPV6 tabs (tested using google DNS - 8.8.8.8), my router will sometimes return bogus IPV6 DNS servers and computers do not get internet access.
Now with DNS Relay turned ON, with DNS input at both IPV4 and IPV6 tabs on router config, my computer is returning the google DNS servers when I check via ipconfig.

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
- What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
- What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
Thank you for confirming this. Can you confirm a few of the other items listed? How about Guest Network enabled when it should be disabled and not secure?
I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and let them know what your seeing.

3-Display Ethernet connection vs wireless this is rather annoying.
4-Bridge mode from my experience lags sometimes over a wifi connection.
5-Schedule/Parental control for accessing the wifi have two issues *first, it isn't displayed and couldn't find any place to enable it (Attachment Enclosed) *Second after playing with inspect website it was disabled by default with no way to access it for standard user * third, after accessing the parental/schedule and enabling it the schedule ( I Tried all Kinds of schedules scenarios) doesn't deny the connection of a specific device it simply stays connected with internet on at all time although the wifi logo for the device says blocked/Banned.
6- I simply feel the device lacks customization if I may say a 20$ Mikrotik router has more customization features that the COVR doesn't stand a chance against.
7- QOS Engine has 2 issues first there's no way to specify per device speed or QoS, Second it doesn't work in any way it's like it isn't enabled at all.
those are the issues that mainly face me daily.

Hello New to the forum and I saw this post and I have a few remarks to be considered (or I don't know about them)
Issues I face:

What is the distance between A point and B point.
2- lack of dual-band SSID Broadcast which I think would be a huge plus to the network.
Separation of SSIDs is not supported on COVR MESH systems.
3-Display Ethernet connection vs wireless this is rather annoying.
How so?

What is the mfr and model of the main host router upstream when the COVR is in AP mode (bridge)?

What browser are you using? This happen with IE11, Firefox or Opera?
Is this in router mode or AP mode when your using the parental controls?

Most DIR routers UI are meant for simplistic use and the average home user. If your an advanced user looked for more features, the COVR may not be what is best suited for you.

those are the issues that mainly face me daily.
Mostly QOS is automatic when setting the speeds. Other routers have priority sections where you can place a device in a High, Medium or Low section. Something that D-Link may have not included on this system.

1- the distance is the same as ever when it works normally it gives an excellent signal between both but sometimes for no reason whatsoever this happens.
2I know its not supported that was wishful thinking.
3-if it is using the ethernet backhaul or the wifi backhaul.

6- yea I know but even a noob can get what he wants even if its a bit complex, also bringing in features doesn't mean the UI will become complex there are many features that can be integrated without complexing the system/UI.
7-Okay I understand that but the Engine doesn't work or speed no priority sometimes the third row gets higher priority than the first place. and that depicts the term isn't working.

Ok, Ya I agree, I wish they would have a status icon for wireless or Ethernet connected Points.
If you feel that Parental controls and Qos is not working I would make contact with D-Link support and let them know about this. Get a case number going.

I think the distance is around 16~18 Feet give or take 1
I think ill open a ticket with D'link but their support is really slow and takes forever to reply back (Previous experience)

the distance you have is too close. There is too much wifi over lap at that distance.
Try 30 feet to start.

Seems that the just released new iOS version of the DLink WIFI (1.2.6build3), allow to revert back from Bridge to Router mode. I have not tested.

Well the apps update was proposed to me this WE so I took a look at the new UI, hoping to see some way to disable the guest wifi, and saw this enhancement instead.

Ok so I tested this out. Operation mode appears with in the app. However coming back from bridge mode to router mode still requires the A point to be factory reset and setup from scratch.

Really hope D-Link can change this. Not ideal way to revert back from bridge (AP) mode to router mode with having to set up the A point from scratch. >:(
I suppose users will need to keep a router mode backup configuration file handy.

It's currently the only way right now according to the vendor. They are aware of it. Realistically how often are customers going to go back and forth though? Probably very rarely.

Understand. Though when someone has to revert back from "bridge" mode, why should a user have to re setup the router mode though. I guess long experiences with other routers have always had the ability to revert back with out having to setup again. :-\ Seems odd that the 2200 series does this. I don't recall the 1200 series having this problem... ???
Well, I would like the "bridge" mode changed to "Access Point" instead. Another long experience and standardized terminology that I'm just used to. ::)
Hoping the DNS Relay and Guess Mode issues can be fixed. Rather have these fixes in place. :-\

Personally I wish routers were just routers and if people need extenders or access point, buy an extender or access point....but that is just me lol.
I agree with bridge vs access point mode. If you use ethernet <<>> wireless is an access point. Wireless <<>> wireless is extender or bridge mode.
DNS relay issue has been addressed but I do not see any tickets for guest mode.

Ya, but everyone wants a product that is flexible as well. Ya how often does a average home use switch to AP or wireless bridge mode on the 200-400$ router they bought. Seems that these users would only need just a router with out the extra features.
Yes. If anything, please ask the vendor to change the terminology. Most of use know what things to pertain to, however also on the other side of the fence, those of us having to help users in support questions and senarios, should have more accurate terminology to what the product is actually doing. The 1200 and 2200 series do not support any wireless "bridge" modes. Can be confusing to the average users seeking help and support information if a problem comes up.
Do we need to make contact with D-Link support for Guest Network? I will. One user said he did however he closed it prematurely taking in considerations of the CD19 events happening. Please let us know if we need to make contact with D-Link about this. This is a problem. One other reason why I can't use the 2200 at this time.

Yes ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS contact D-Link support. Drill them. Squeaky wheel gets the oil right? or something like that. Look at it from D-Link's view. They sell say 6 million (for example) Covr-2202s globally. Three people on a forum are complaining about a feature. Honestly are they going to spend the thousands and thousands of dollars it costs for firmware to appease the 3 people? Probably not. But if they are getting phone calls from multiple regions, then they will move on it.
Remember too terminology is different in other parts of the world, and since 75% of D-Link products are global, they try to use common terms to fit everyone. Not sure if that is the reason with this vendor but I will go with it :)

Ok, So I have some more info to add to this, and not sure if it helps any. I stumbled on this today with the 2202 A point and DNS Relay disabled and connected as a 2ndary router behind another router.
DNS relay disabled seems to work correctly behind two routers that uses a IP address setting of 192.168.0.1 on the main host router, and 192.168.77.1 on the 2nd router and the A Point router is set to 192.168.1.1 being connected behind the 2nd router.
DNS relay disabled fails to work behind one router that uses a IP address setting of 192.168.0.1 on the main host router and the 2202 A Point is set to 192.168.1.1.
I know this isn't ideal or normal configurations.

Anyone got an issue where the slave disconnected from the Master A and needs a restart to reconnect? It suddenly goes blinking yellow and needs a restart to get it going again.

I have the exact same problem. Bought a 2202 today and the slave doesn't stay connected longer than 5 min. Initially it was also showing me crappy speed ~10mb from a line which is rated at 1000mb. The A unit which is around 10 meters away shows decent speeds ~95 mb.
Initially i had a dual band router which had coverage problems due to my concrete walls. Now I saw a comment from FurryNutz saying they are too close to eachother, how is that even a problem? Does it states anywhere that you should have a minimum distance? I really doubt that overlapping the signal would cause the slave unit to totally disconnect and never reconnect (ok let's say it disconnects but why it doesn't reconnect, isn't this more firmware related than config? ). I will contact customer service as from my perspective this is making it unusable.

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
- What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
- What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
- Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by that maybe causing interferences?
- Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use a WiFi Scanner (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48327.0) to find out. How many?
Since you state that your walls are made of concrete, this will be a factor and impact good operation of the B point with the A point. You may move the B point closer to see if the B Point stops this behavior.

Just realised that I did not use the standard format, so here it is:
- Europe based (Romania)
- No factory resets done, I've set it up one time after taking it out of the box
- My ISP is a romanian telecom company RCS&RDS, the internet is over optic fiber untill my door step where it enters a converter, but I do not know the brand of it.
- I have another dual band router to which the 2202 A unit is connected. There are also other wifi networks (~5) in the area
I will try tommorow to change the location of point B and also to connect it via a ethernet cable. Do you think that resetting to factory settings so I could use it as a router and remove my old router could help? Thanks alot for the help!

What region are you located in? Middle East

Firmware latest 1.04 no new update is available
No can't connect ethernet to it (physically can't)
The incidents happen at random times sometimes once a week, another time twice a day the exact scenario is as follow:
the network I working perfectly suddenly the salve(point B) disconnects the LED turns Yellow Blink the guest network is activated (usually it's off) (but not working), the ping to the main Master A is available but web interface connection isn't available, and nothing works until I restart point B so it reconnects to Master A (Nothing is changed whatsoever to make it do such thing) Logs shows nothing about dropping the connection.

So i've managed to do some testing with it and found out that the distance was not a problem, it will even drop when placed near each other. With the ethernet cable linked, point B runs perfectly. Now, for a couple of days, I gave up on point B and left if in a corner still connected. During the first day he would drop as soon as I would connect to it and put it to some stress. What is really strange is that after a couple of day it stabilized, I see no more drops, ping and speed are clockwise, everything runs smoothly. It's as if he needed time to accomodate :)). For now I will let it be and if it starts disconnecting again I will run an ethernet cable to it.

OK. Keep an eye on it...if you think it needs attention, I would contact D-link support and ask about an RMA.
