Hi,
I have been using a broadband Wireless AP (D-Link DIR-524) to connect to the internet through a long UTP cable with RJ45 Ethernet jack.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/198/59944912.jpg

As the picture depicts, the AP is using PPPoE with username and password to connect.

Now, I have to replace this AP with an ADSL+2 Wireless Router (D-Link DSL-2730u, H/W Ver.:C1, F/W Ver.:ME_1.00), and I need it to function just like the AP described above.

The question is: How should I configure the ADSL+2 Wireless Router to connect to the internet using PPPoE with username and password by connecting one of the LAN ports to that long UTP cable?

You should be able to configure the Modem using either the WiFi or using a LAN cable connected to the modem and using a browser pointed at 192.168.0.1, might be .1.1...

Hi FurryNutz, thanks for your answer, I know how to open configuration pages of them both, but I need to know how to configure the DSL-2730u to connect to the internet NOT using RJ11 port (I will leave this port disconnected), but using a UTP cable having one end connected to one of my router's RJ45 4 LAN ports at my side, and the other end connected to a switch that distributes internet service through a PPPoE(username/password) internet connection type. Please advise.  ???

The Modem requires the RJ11 connection.

The Modem requires the RJ11 connection.

Thanks again FurryNutz,
Do you mean that there is no chance of connecting to the internet which comes from the Ethernet cable using D-Link DSL-2730u, and that I have to replace it with something like the D-Link DIR-524 to connect this way? since I have no RJ11 connection at all. Only I have this Ethernet cable giving me internet through a PPPoE(username/password) connection type.

You need a DIR series router is needed if you have a RJ46 internet connection, not a DSL series modem.
