Hopefully, I can get some assistance here, as I'm having a very strange issue with my brand new DGL-5500.
Here is some information regarding my internet/devices that I use on my network:
ISP: RoadRunner Turbo 20/2
Devices:
Playstation 4
Xbox One
Wii U
2 x laptops (wireless)
2 x 3DS XLs
2 Android Phones
Kindle Fire
Desktop PC (wired)
I purchased a DGL-5500 to replace my aging DIR-655, and because I thought that StreamBoost will help alleviate some of the issues I'm having playing games, while my wife and mother-in-law are streaming video.
I followed the instructions to do initial set up, reset to factory defaults, and then downloaded and updated with the latest firmware (1.11B03). I also reset to factory defaults afterwards as well.
I go through the initial setup (all defaults) and start to add my devices. I start to add my devices to the 2.4GHz network (I was unsure which devices I owned that supported 5GHz at the time). The devices are recognized and added fine, and I start to organize my priority for the devices.
I go out to test my Playstation 4 and Xbox One, and the wireless speeds are abysmal. I'm getting 75% to 85% signal strength to both, but getting speeds approx 100kbps to 200kbps for both download and upload. The speeds are so slow, I can't even load my friends list on PS4, and video takes 5-10 minutes to buffer on the Xbox One. I also notice that my laptop is also running ridiculously slow via wireless, as its taking forever to load 192.168.0.1, and the actual D-Link software once I actually get in.
I check the PC that's hardwired to the router, run speed test and everything is running fine. Getting close to my advertised 20/2.
I didn't want to mess with it too much as it was late, but after about an hour I went back to my DIR-655 to make sure it wasn't something else. Everything was fine with the DIR-655. Wireless speeds were excellent, signal strength was still about 75% to 85%, but everything worked perfectly.
Has anyone else experienced this? Am I overlooking a setting somewhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll be wanting to try things out again tonight to test some things.
Thank you!
