Until the firmware has some more reporting/statistics to quantify improvements I thought we could start a thread to share our 5500 experiences and any noticable improvements we've experienced.

Wifi coverage has improved dramatically.

RDPing home from my office feels way more responsive, quite surprising because the 4500's gigabit wan is plenty fast enough to handle my 50/10mbit cable connection.

Just FYI, I did some 5Ghz testing yesterday, same room 8-10 feet using my DWA-180 adapter. Initial speeds were ok, however i got a momentary disconnection message in Windows. I canceled the file xfer and re-started again, Speeds increased by 4-5MB. Not sure why speeds were not as fast when I first started. I believe something to do with Bursting had not kicked in then all of a sudden it did. Speeds were Low to mid 20MB's Write and Mid to High 20MBs for Read. I was testing isolated from internet and using a wired LAN Gb connected PC with folder shares.

I saw no other WiFi drops or disconnects after this. I'm thinking of doing some duration testing and watching a movie with a bridge attached to see what I find there. New FW seems pretty good here.

Lost my 5ghz all together today. Just unplugged the router for 10sec and rebooted it. Wireless clients can now see 5 ghz. Second time this has happened, either on FW 1.01 and 1.10.

What MFr devices do you have on 5Ghz?
Anyone else with 5Ghz WiFi near by?
Have you tried turning OFF ALL 5Ghz devices and testing with one as a start then graduating turning on the next device?

I haven't seen this issue on mine...yet. However I only have 3 devices that use 5Ghz, Mac Book Pro, DAP-1533 and DIR-865L.

This happened to me once before as well when I was on the 1.01 firmware.  At the time I had an HTC One cell phone and Linksys WUMC710 media bridge connected on the 5GHz band.  I'm the only person using 5GHz in my area as well.   I still only have those two devices on 5GHz and haven't had that issue appear again with the latest 1.10 firmware.  I think they almost have it with the firmware on the 5GHz band since it's way better then the original firmware.

I agree. I found other issues with the 5500 and a DWA-180 that got fixed in v1.10. Keep us posted if you notice any more drops on the 5500. This should not be happening.
