**UPDATE**

I ended up replacing the Actiontec C1000A with another Actiontec C1000A as I determined the modem was faulty.

I configured the Actiontec C1000A to operate in "Transparent Bridging" mode and DISABLED "Wireless" to prevent the modem from transmitting a wireless signal.

I reset the DGL-5500 to factory defaults, rebooted, and set up INTERNET (PPPoE), WIRELESS SETTINGS, NETWORK SETTINGS (disabled DNS Relay / Reserved IP addresses for all devices on my network), and STREAMBOOST to work with my desired home network configuration.  I DISABLED / UNCHECKED the following in STREAMBOOST:

*Enable StreamBoost Bandwidth Control**
*Enable Auto Bandwidth Estimation**

I am happy to post all is working like it should be  ;D with the exception of no devices being displayed in MY NETWORK and no devices being displayed in PRIORITIES.  I'm assuming this is a result of the options selected in the STREAMBOOST tab.  I plan to start testing by enabling / disabling different options within StreamBoost.

My ultimate satisfaction would be to not have download / upload speeds affected, be able to view my network devices within MY NETWORK, and prioritize my network devices within PRIORITIES  :).

That's all for now - off to bed! 8)

Glad to see it is all working, the cause of it all ....a faulty modem. Congrats to you. Perseverance till 2AM, must have a lot of energy/motivation.

Regarding the Actiontec modem - It ranks as one of the worst pieces of networking equipment I've ever used.  At this point, I have no other options for routers that support VDSL and 40Mbps down / 5Mbps up.  After making changes in the GUI to support my home network configuration (Transparent Bridging / Disable Wireless), I cannot access the GUI of the Actiontec modem via a direct wired connection from laptop / desktop.  I had to reset the modem to be able to access the GUI.  I am running the latest firmware (thought maybe an update would address the issue).  I even changed the IP address of the modem so it didn't conflict with my home network IP address range.

It would be nice if Motorola or D-Link would produce a VDSL modem  8)

Just FYI, once any DSL modem is put into bridge mode, the modems web page can no longer be accessed. To regain access, ya, the modem has to be reset. Just the nature of that beast.  ;)

Thanks Furry!  Once again I learn something new.  I now know more than TIER I Actiontec modem support!   ;D

I did a factory reset due to a VPN passthrough issue, after reconfiguring this bandwidth discrepency with ABE on has gone away.  I now get max throughput with ABE on or off.    If you are seeing a difference i'd suggest a factory reset and trying again.

Here are my results with and without SB.   I ran each 10 times, each time I got the same max and same discprepency.

NO SB

SB ON [ABE ON]

SB ON [ABE OFF]

Good to see your getting MAX throughput with ABE on or off!!

HMMM...I wonder if I should ENABLE / CHECK Enable Auto Bandwidth Estimation?  Right now it's disabled due to the bandwidth discrepancy users were having.

Anyone view there logs and see an entry called StreamBoost Update? I thought I saw one today. Not sure if thats part of the boot process or an actual update.

I'm from Europe (I imported the DGL-5500 as it's unavailable here) and also I am seeing quite a big difference in Streamboost on and off.

For testing, the only cable connected to the router is my PC/

With streamboost: 120.8 Mbps down , 13.1 Mbps up
Without streamboost: 151.1 Mbps down, 14.4 Mbps up

I did not checkbox "enable auto bandwidth estimation"
Download speed is set to 150.00 Mbps and Upload speed is set to 15.00 Mbps

Factory reset your 5500 then try again with Streamboost on, that fixed it for me.

Just be aware that the DGL-5500 may not be support in your region and could be some incompatibilities in cross region usage...

I reset my DGL-5500 because of slower connection speeds with SpeedBoost on and Bandwidth Estimation on.  Speeds went back to normal.  I checked it again later in the day and the speeds went back to the lower speeds prior to resetting to factory settings.  Is it possible that the missing bandwidth is some sort of a reserve for SpeedBoost to function? It may take a little time to adjust the router after a reset thats why it is back to normal speeds temporarily.  It may have to calibrate before it takes that bandwidth.  It also takes a bit for it to start recognizing your devices.

What are your speeds with SB ON and ABE OFF?
