Title: DSL-2880AL "Internet Online" but "No internet access" please help
Post by: drc001 on April 04, 2014, 03:42:36 AM
The title says it all, I set up my router using the exact information the isp gave me and the in big green letters it states "Internet Online" on the status page I tried connecting my computer and my phone but neither had internet access.

In the interests of removing randomness i have done all the turning off and on again plenty of times and connected directly to the modem with a lan cable and tried using a friend's computer also with a different lan cable and wirelessly... no dice

Is there anything you would suggest trying cause I'm fresh outta ideas...

I can't edit my post for some reason but another thing I have noticed is...

Under Maintenance and Diagnostics

Ping ISP Default gateway is a fail

Ping Primary DNS server is also a fail...

No idea why it says internet online in big green writing if it can't connect...

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
Is this modem connected to any other devices or just the phone line direct into the modem?

I recommend that you have your ISP check the cabling going to the ISP modem, check signal levels going to the ISP modem. Check the phone lines for correct operation and filtering.  The modem is dependent upon getting good signal from the ISP Service.

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.

PC 3rd Party Security Software Configurations

PC Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.
Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection
